Who ever said that women are not strong enough to be team paramedics?? No one who knows these ladies! They routinely manage life-saving trips together, lifting and moving dead-weight patients, carrying heavy equipment and patients up and down stairs, all the while, caring for those people who need reassurance and TLC. That is what Donna Muff and Stephanie Davis do! They both live in King City and work mostly from the that station. The King City folks know them well and respect their teamwork, dedication, and skill. Donna has been an EMT for 28 years, all that time working for GRRAD, and a couple of years ago, she took on one more task as one of our two billing administrators, which is another daunting job! She and her husband, Albert, are the proud parents of Aaron (36), Austin (33) and his darling wife, Nikki, who have three kiddos: Carter (10), Kinsley (7), and Casen (3). Donna dotes on those grandbabies and thinks babysitting is the best thing EVER! Donna said she originally took the EMT class because someone near and dear to her (Lisa??) begged her to do so. In those early days, all staff were volunteers, and after obtaining her EMT credentials, Donna worked daily and every other weekend which became daily-night shifts, and lots of weekends. But she loved it; it was in her blood! She did it because she knew it helped her community, and she loves helping people. She said “My kids grew up in EMS with me running out of family dinners, holidays, and birthdays at any moment. It didn’t seem to affect them because my youngest son became a volunteer firefighter like his dad. One thing I do know is that GRRAD is like a family, and all the employees are like family to me! I love GRRAD!” Steph and her husband, Jeremiah, have six children: Sydney (22), Jaeden (21), Landan (19), Braeley (16), Emersun (11), and Ruger (7). I think we can all assume they are remarkably busy parents! Stephanie has been working (although, like Donna, volunteering at first) at GRRAD for 20 years, the last 15 as a paramedic, and is now one of our two education administrators, keeping staff updated on all educational requirements and tutoring the students studying for EMT or paramedic courses. She loves her work, but her very favorite thing in life is spending time with her beautiful family. Stephanie says “I love being a paramedic because it is extremely rewarding to help others. It gives my life purpose to be there for my community in a time of need. I can see the difference I make in other people’s lives, whether that be serving them in lifethreatening situations or by educating them on how to better care for themselves or others they are assisting. This job isn’t about the money, but the selflessness in helping others who need it.” Her guiding light is this verse: Hebrews 6:10: “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.”

The Island City Christian & Calvary Stanberry Churches (Col 3:12-13, Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.) Forgiveness, essential if one expects to into the eternal kingdom of God. Forgiveness in and of itself can require items in this list. Jesus would say in Matthew 6 and commonly referred to as the ‘Our Father’ prayer including the sentence that follows; (12, And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. & 14-15, “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.) Yes, forgiveness from God is conditional upon our personal participation in forgiving others. Jesus would also repeat this in relationship to prayer; (Mark 11:25-26, “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”) There are times, places, and people who from personal testimony became apparent that forgiveness was not humanly possible. What? O yes, there are situations in the lives of some that forgiveness was only possible when all within the heart, mind and soul had been so humiliated that surrendering to God through the loving sacrifice of Jesus Christ alone could bring about forgiveness. Notice that at the beginning of forgiveness is tender mercies of which we are to ‘Put On’. This is where we enter the merciful spirit of God in humility through longsuffering; the attribute of the fruit of the spirit of which no one likes to talk about. Forgiveness requires humility and the realization that as God forgave us we must also forgive others. (Col 3:14-15, But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,) Once again we are to ‘Put On’ the very essence of God in His light as the visible element of concern. I often think of God’s love as Jesus would say while hanging on the cross, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”.

Monique was born on March 10, 1961, in St. Joseph, Missouri the daughter of Larry Dean and Marilyn Sue (Schottel) Aborn. Monique was a member of the King City Baptist Church and attended the First Christian Church of King City. She loved to swim, dance, listen to music, Betty Boop and crafts. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kevin Aborn; paternal grandparents, Virgil and Eva Mae Aborn; maternal grandfather, Kendall Schottel and maternal grandmother, Bernice Schottel. Monique is survived by her parents; Larry Dean and Marilyn Sue Aborn, King City, MO; sister, Kelsi (David) Steele, King City, MO; brother, Wes (Angie) Aborn, King City, MO; nieces and nephews, Melody, Kyrstian, Kymberlynn, Joseph, Kystin, Kavien, Kenstin, Kenzer, Jason, and Deven; great-niece, Kylie Peak and great-nephew, Weslynn Taylor.
