NANCY JANE MANRING HOLMAN
February 15, 1960 - January 17, 2023
Nancy Jane Manring Holman passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at the age of 62, surrounded by family and friends.
Nancy was the fifth of eight children, born to Gordon and Pat Manring in Albany, Missouri, February 15, 1960. She grew up on a farm east of town. She enjoyed playing the clarinet in the band, cheerleading and dipping cones at the Dairy Wheel. She graduated from Albany High School in 1978.
Nancy attended the University of Missouri and was a member of Alpha Phi Fraternity. She graduated in 1982 with a degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology and
went to work for the City of Columbia, where she established a career that took her to State Farm for 34 years. During her time with the company, she amassed many certifications including Certified Financial Planner, Certified Life Underwriter, Licensed Insurance Agent, Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter, Fellow, Life Management Institute and Charter Advisor for Senior Living. Whatever her job, she was always dedicated to doing things the right way and to the best of her ability. She retired in March 2022. She married Kevin Holman in 1990 and they have one daughter, Abby Holman. Nancy’s love of Columbia and the Mizzou Tigers ran deep, and you could often find her cheering on her beloved team in any sport with Abby in tow or hosting a memorable tailgate at Tiger football games, no matter the weather. She was a lifelong member of the Mizzou Alumni Association and active in her chapter in both Columbia and Bloomington, IL. She continued to actively serve Alpha Phi after college, being recognized with the Michaelanean Award, a national award for ongoing excellent volunteer service. A lover of music, Nancy traveled to concerts near and far, to see her favorite musicians over the years. She enjoyed taking trips to the beach, especially St. Petersburg, Florida, and shopping, always finding the perfect gifts and not being able to wait to give them. She could be found cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals for any given game. She also enjoyed volunteering her time with the Boone Electric Trust and the Ronald McDonald Charities of Columbia.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Abby, siblings: Edward (Nancy Sue) of Albany, MO, Bill of Saint Joseph, MO, Maurice (Michele) of Columbus, OH, Marvin (Mary Anne) of Stockton, MO, Sally (Eric) Lykins of Lee’s Summit, MO along with brother-in-law Richard McConkey of Albany, sister-in-law Beverly Manring of Saint Joseph, eleven nieces and nephews, and ten great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary McConkey and brother John Manring.
A celebration of life was held at Bach-Yager Funeral Home in Columbia, MO on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. A private graveside service was held at Grandview Cemetery in Albany, MO on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, with a visitation at Roberson-Polley preceding the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Albany Legacy Fund, at CFNWMO, 1006 W St. Maartens Dr., St. Joseph, MO, 64506, with “Albany Legacy Fund in memory of Nancy Manring” in the memo.

Learn more about Harrison Countyʼs Hospice
Hospice emphasizes palliative (comfort) rather than curative treatment; quality rather than quantity of life. The dying are comforted. Professional medical care is given, and sophisticated symptom relief provided. The patient and family are both included in the care plan and emotional, spiritual and practical support is given based on the patientʼs wishes and familyʼs needs. Hospice care is provided to patients who have limited life expectancy. Although most hospice patients are cancer patients, hospice accepts anyone regardless of age or type of illness. These patients have also made a decision to spend their last months at home or in a home-like setting.
Hospice offers trained volunteers who can offer rest periods for family members as well as meaningful support to the patient. Hospice also offers short-term hospitalizations for those with hardto-control symptoms and up to five (5) days of respite care for caregiver relief.
Hospice affirms life and regards dying as a normal process. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death. Hospice provides personalized services and a caring community so that patients and families can attain the necessary preparation for a death that is satisfactor to them.
Our Hospice team is made up of a Medical Director, Registered Nurses, Social Worker, Chaplain, CNA and trained Volunteers.
Hospice is available 24 hours a day to our patients and their families.
NEW SERVICE AREA! We are excited that our Hospice coverage area has expanded and includes ALL of Harrison, Mercer, Daviess, Gentry, and Worth Counties.
HOW IS HOSPICE CARE FUNDED?
Harrison County Hospice is a non-profit agency. We are funded primarily through Medicare, Medicaid and some private insurance. If there is no pay source for the patient, hospice is provided without charge to the patient or their loved ones. Hospice does accept donations and/or memorials to help cover these expenses.

if’s’? Jesus Christ came to this world to accomplish that which would provide a method for these fleshly, yet spirit filled vessels a way to enter into the presence of the Holy God of Creation. ‘But if’, even, if after accepting and acknowledging and completing a ceremony of inclusion to this group we are found yet to be involved in personal sin we’ve been fooled into a false sense of security as to our eternal destination. In this letter to the churches around the area of Galatia the Apostle Paul became aware of those who had crept into the fellowship with deceptive heresies given in such a way as to comfort those still engaging in personal behaviors of a sinful nature. “Is Jesus Christ a minister of sin”? Did Jesus Christ come from Heaven to earth to provide a way for those who acknowledged him and his existence just so they could continue in willful sin? (Romans 6:1-4, What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.) It would appear that the modern church has failed to inform those who desire membership of the need to be, as Jesus would say, (John 3:3, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”)

Wrestling is a staple of life... Not just a sport.
Just like life, it requires self discipline, dedication, respect, and encouragement from your team and community, perseverance and pushing yourself to the absolute limits...physically and mentally. It is looking at everything in a different way, pushing through all of the sweat, every drop of blood, every sore muscle, bruise and black eye...and each labored breath by practice’s end, all effectively bandaged by growth or victory at the final whistle blow of each match.
Success is not final. Failure is not final. It is the courage to continue the battle that counts.
James Lee Booher was the epitome of a Warrior Wrestler. Those who knew him know this, and for those who didn’t let this be your lesson.
“Be the things you loved most about the people who are gone”
James is being remembered at the Varsity Wrestling James Booher Memorial Tournament which is also sponsored by some of his closest friends & teammates 22 years after his untimely passing, before graduation of his senior year. His family, friends, teammates and opponents still carry their memories of him with them to this day.
