But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.) When Jesus walked this earth, he was often referred to as Rabbi and Teacher. We see occasions where the Bible tells us that He sat down and taught with great authority and wisdom that would enlighten the faithful and confound the proud. There are many opinions as to what Heaven will be like of which many of them are of quite worldly. These two groups were both concerned with the coming of the Lord, the ‘Bridegroom’ as they have kept themselves pure and are feeling content and very comfortable as they relaxed, slumbered, and even slept; but there is one big difference and that not everyone has that within which enables the light to shine out of the darkness. What? Notice that there is no mention of wanton sinful behavior or denial of the coming of the Lord. They are all waiting yet only part of them are truly filled with the oil of gladness, the anointing from above as the very essence of the Holy Spirit. (Matt 25:6-10, And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.) When the time comes to transition from the temporary to the eternal there is ‘1’ way. Jesus Christ. Aging brings many changes, some welcome, some problematic. Depression and anxiety are changes that don’t need to be “endured.” Address them in a supportive environment. Harrison County Community Hospital’s Senior Life Solutions is an intensive outpatient group therapy program designed to meet the unique needs of individuals typically 65 and older, experiencing depression or anxiety related to life changes that are often associated with aging. If you or someone you know is experiencing any of the following, this program might be right for you. • Anxiety • Changes in appetite • Depression • Difficulty sleeping • Feelings of sadness or grief lasting more than two weeks • Loss of energy • Feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness • Lost a spouse or close family member • Loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities • Recently experienced a traumatic event After assessing an individuals needs, participants meet up to three times per week in a supportive, encouraging group setting. The program staff includes a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed therapists, a registered nurse, and other professionals dedicated to the emotional well-being of the seniors in our community. Anyone can make a referral to the program. This includes self, family members, physicians, or other healthcare professionals. Learn more about Harrison Countyʼs Hospice Hospice emphasizes palliative (comfort) rather than curative treatment; quality rather than quantity of life. The dying are comforted. Professional medical care is given, and sophisticated symptom relief provided. The patient and family are both included in the care plan and emotional, spiritual and practical support is given based on the patientʼs wishes and familyʼs needs. Hospice care is provided to patients who have limited life expectancy. Although most hospice patients are cancer patients, hospice accepts anyone regardless of age or type of illness. These patients have also made a decision to spend their last months at home or in a home-like setting. Hospice offers trained volunteers who can offer rest periods for family members as well as meaningful support to the patient. Hospice also offers short-term hospitalizations for those with hardto-control symptoms and up to five (5) days of respite care for caregiver relief. Hospice affirms life and regards dying as a normal process. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death. Hospice provides personalized services and a caring community so that patients and families can attain the necessary preparation for a death that is satisfactor to them. Our Hospice team is made up of a Medical Director, Registered Nurses, Social Worker, Chaplain, CNA and trained Volunteers. Hospice is available 24 hours a day to our patients and their families. NEW SERVICE AREA! We are excited that our Hospice coverage area has expanded and includes ALL of Harrison, Mercer, Daviess, Gentry, and Worth Counties. HOW IS HOSPICE CARE FUNDED? Harrison County Hospice is a non-profit agency. We are funded primarily through Medicare, Medicaid and some private insurance. If there is no pay source for the patient, hospice is provided without charge to the patient or their loved ones. Hospice does accept donations and/or memorials to help cover these expenses.
What isnʼt covered by Part A & Part B?
Medicare doesnʼt cover everything. If you need services Part A or Part B doesnʼt cover, youʼll have to pay for them yourself unless: • You have other coverage (including Medicaid) to cover the costs. • Youʼre in a Medicare Advantage Plan or Medicare Cost Plan that covers these services. Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Cost Plans may cover some extra benefits, like fitness programs and vision, hearing, and dental services. • Some of the items and services Medicare doesnʼt cover include: • Long-term care (also called custodial care) • Most dental care • Eye exams (for prescription glasses) • Dentures • Cosmetic surgery • Massage therapy • Routine physical exams • Hearing aids and exams for fitting them • Concierge care (also called concierge medicine, retainer-based medicine, boutique medicine, platinum practice, or direct care) • Covered items or services you get from an opt-out doctor or other provider (except in the case of an emergency or urgent need)
How Medicare works with other insurance
If you have Medicare and other health insurance (like from a group health plan, retiree coverage, or Medicaid), each type of coverage is called a “payer.” When thereʼs more than one payer, “coordination of benefits” rules decide who pays first. The “primary payer” pays what it owes on your bills first, and then sends the rest to the “secondary payer” (supplemental payer) to pay. In some rare cases, there may also be a third payer. • What it means to pay primary/secondary • The insurance that pays first (primary payer) pays up to the limits of its coverage. • The one that pays second (secondary payer) only pays if there are costs the primary insurer didnʼt cover. • The secondary payer (which may be Medicare) may not pay all the remaining costs. • If your group health plan or retiree coverage is the secondary payer, youʼll likely need to enroll in Medicare Part B before theyʼll pay. • If the insurance company doesnʼt pay the claim promptly (usually within 120 days), your doctor or other provider may bill Medicare. Medicare may make a conditional payment to pay the bill, and then later recover any payments the primary payer shouldʼve made. SWCD BOARD ELECTIONS Let it be known that the Worth County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold an election for one supervisor in each of two different territories in the county.
A native of Kansas, Dr. Estes earned his Doctorate of Education in District Leadership and Policy at the University of Kansas, his master’s degree from Baker University, and his bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University. In 2014, after teaching and administrating in Kansas for eleven years, Dr. Estes moved to his current position as principal of Pioneer Ridge Middle School in Independence, MO. His other professional administrative experience includes assistant high school principal, athletic director, transportation director, and elementary principal. Dr. Estes and his wife, Jessica, are the parents of three children. The youngest will be a high school freshman next year. They are excited to join the South Harrison community. Dr. Estes commented, “I am truly honored and thrilled to serve as the next Superintendent of Schools at South Harrison. I am eagerly anticipating the wonderful days and years ahead. I look forward to collaborating with the entire South Harrison Family and Community to achieve great things together.” The district had a quality pool of applicants for this position and narrowed the field to six for screening interviews. Of those six candidates, three were invited back for a three-part final selection process consisting of a tour of facilities, interview with a committee of staff and patrons, and interview with the Board of Education. According to Board President Nick Fitzgerald, “Both interview groups were impressed with the enthusiasm of Dr. Estes, recognizing his ability to inspire positive culture and academic progress in the district.”

We would like you to meet two of our awesome Albany crew members, T.J. Preston and Isaac Wallace, though they both will gladly help out wherever (and whenever) they might be needed. T.J. was an EMT for 2 years and has been with GRRAD as a paramedic for 11. He has proven to be a leader in our organization and is well-known in our Albany medical community. T.J. fills 2 other GRRAD roles in addition to his EMS duty. He is one of our two education administrators and is responsible for assuring our staff is up-to-date on required trainings and refresher courses, and he also teaches EMT courses for community members who are interested in an EMS career. Furthermore, T.J. is our I.T. specialist and takes care of all our computers and related paraphernalia. T.J. lives in St. Joseph with his family, his long-time partner and best friend, Anna Brady, and their two sons, Matthew (8) and Christopher (6). His favorite pastime is spending time with them, but he also relaxes by playing video games. T.J. truly enjoys being able to help people in their time of need and finds it very rewarding to navigate through whatever the emergency situation might be. He appreciates GRRAD for giving him the opportunity to launch his paramedic career; he loves the work environment and the community he serves. Isaac is an Albany area native and still lives here with his lovely wife, Whitney (who is also in the medical field—an emergency dept. tech at Mosaic Medical Center-Albany), and their children, Daelynn (8), Hudson (4), and baby Landry (3 months). Isaac comes from a family of EMS workers; both his mother and his brother have served as EMTs. He actually credits his brother for acquainting him with GRRAD and leading him to become an EMT himself. He has recently completed his 7th year working as a valued GRRAD employee. Isaac says working for GRRAD is his dream job because he can help people in need in his own hometown. He really cares about and enjoys his co-workers who inspire and encourage him and make him feel good about himself. Most of all, he so appreciates the opportunity to be at home when not on a call, allowing him to spend more time with his precious family, his very favorite thing to do.
The GRRAD Board sincerely thanks T.J. and Isaac for their hard work, dedication, and for the painstaking care they provide for those who require our emergency service.
