The Island City Christian & Calvary Stanberry Churches (Hebrews 13:4, Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge) It’s quite apparent that these 16 words have been misunderstood or overlooked in our society today. Understanding this verse is easy when common definitions are applied. 1) Marriage: The union of ‘1’ Man and ‘1’ Woman who have taken an oath of commitment to God that they will Love, Honor and Cherish their relationship until death. Husband and Wife make a vow to God before witnesses acknowledging that every moment of this relationship may not be easy, hence: ‘In good times and bad’, ‘In sickness and health’, ‘For richer or poorer’, ‘Till death do us part’. An actual vow to God, relying on him during difficult times of life. 2) Fornicators / Fornication: (NOUN; sexual intercourse between people not married to one another.) We must understand this is concerning pre-marital sex and the consequence thereof. Physical relations before marriage are not in God’s plan for creation. Think about how the abortion rate would plummet if sex were only between two mature committed individuals. Such the sad state as there are social programs in government and business that financially reward couples not to marry. 3) Adultery: NOUN (voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a person who is not his or her spouse) Is there any confusion about the definition of the word adultery? Jesus would give the definition of Adultery during the current dispensation of Grace, (Matthew 5:28, But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.) under the law a physical act was considered adultery, yet Jesus would let everyone know that adultery was not only acting out in the physical but entertaining thoughts and desire of the heart. The spirit of lust and sin has been made popular today by the media and welcomed into homes all over the country via the internet and television. 4) Judgement: NOUN: (The act or instance of judging, and the ability to judge, make a decision, or form an opinion objectively, authoritatively, and wisely, especially in matters affecting action.) 2 Peter 2:7-9, The Lord knows how to deliver the Godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgement, reserved for fire until the day of Judgement and perdition of the ungodly.)
