Meet Your Grand River Regional Ambulance District (GRRAD) Crew Members This is the first of several articles to introduce you to the people who respond to our 911 medical emergency calls every day! As a public service, the GRRAD Board of Directors believe you would like to know more about these amazing men and women who assist in all kinds of emergency situations, provide care, and save lives! The first two crew members of our Ambulance District we would like you to know are also our two longest serving…32 years each, and they happen to be happily married: Lisa and Todd Stegman. Lisa worked as a volunteer EMT for several years and went on to obtain her Paramedic Certification. She served as Assistant to the Director and Manager of Operations of our District for many years while she continued working as a paramedic. In the spring of 2022, the Board promoted Lisa to Director of the District following the retirement of Barb Shupe. While having a very full plate since she continues fulfilling both director and operations roles, Lisa nevertheless takes her turn on ambulance shifts, filling in for all three district’s crew members who are absent for one reason or another. She says that GRRAD staff members are like family who take care of our community family. Lisa is one AMAZING woman! Todd Stegman is pretty amazing, too. He has served his 32 years as an EMT for our King City/Union Star district, first as a volunteer, and then as a full-time employee. Todd is also Maintenance Manager, in charge of all the district’s ambulance units and equipment. He is our “go-to guy” for just about everything we need, always willing to help and go beyond his call of duty. Todd loves to work on the family farm when not on duty and to spend time with his family. Todd recently said “GRRAD has evolved in the past 32 years, but my dedication has stayed the same. I took the EMT class to help others by giving emergency care to people in need in our community. I give my all to GRRAD!” And Todd has done, and is still doing, just that! Todd and Lisa have been married 36 years and live in King City. They have two children, Mariah and Garrett. Mariah is married to Jeff Maudlin, and they have two children, Harlen and Hayden. Garrett and wife, Johnna, have two kiddos, Ruby and Rowan. With deepest appreciation, the GRRAD Board thanks Todd and Lisa for their dedicated service!

(Luke 2:25-28, And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. So, he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said:) 20 days from the birth of Jesus the Christ when Joseph and Mary would bring Him to the Temple in Jerusalem so as to fulfil the traditions of the law by offering a sacrifice for a male child being brought into the world a man named Simeon, being filled with the wisdom and might of the Holy Spirit patiently waiting for the ‘Word to become Flesh’ would bless the Lord with by words of his mouth. How is it that a mere mortal can bless the Lord? I very seldom hear of a person blessing the Lord but of those who desire such things as an ‘outpouring of god’s blessing’ along with ‘unmerited favor’ that are often tied to a financial outpouring as some sort of a gift of grace. On the last day of last year, 12.31.23 I placed a challenge before the congregations. How about for this ‘New Year’ we seek to focus on how we, can ‘Bless the Lord’. I realize that very seldom do folks come to church with the desire to be challenged in character, word, or deed but if you think about it ‘Blessing the Lord’ would be evidence that we have received the gift of ‘God’s Grace’ by the ‘Holy Spirit’. Simeon would, ‘Bless the Lord’ by: (LK 2:29-32, “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your Salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”) There is assurance of salvation in none other than the name of Jesus the Christ. He who would be the Word that became flesh. In 2024 Bless the Lord.
