longing aroused by someone else’s possessions, qualities, or work) In the Gospel of Mark we read about the emotional response of envy. Envy is one of the motivational ingredients in the emulsion that includes pride, prejudice and self-worship. Notice how a person who had committed murder was released to roam society with no consequence, yet due to the envy of Jesus whose only wrong was that He failed to conform to the established order of the current social faith movement. There are some who may say that these stories from an ancient text; the Bible that is, are outdated and do not apply to our present generation, but I tell you I have seen this ongoing in the here and now. From the pulpit I shared an example of an outreach ministry that became of interest by another group and since this was public involvement we gladly obliged. As the new members of the outreach made their opinions known. We were soon outnumbered by varying spiritual motives and eventually there was no longer a place for our participation. We were outnumbered and out voted. As the years went along the focus of this outreach had changed and was no longer the inspired image of God’s Holy Spirit but merely a social gathering. After the service I was approached by others of similar experience who had also been asked to step aside due to envy. Have you ever seen the spirit of envy, pride and jealousy enter the work by others seeking only to abolish or alter the work in support of a social doctrine? The secular work of grace separated from the true Grace of God as depicted in the Bible. Love God, Love His People. I’m in Jesus as Jesus is in me.

had a knack for pie making and cooking, she enjoyed making her recipes for family, church, and the many social clubs she belonged to, some of which include the Grant City United Methodist Church, UMW, Uneeda Club, Worth Community Hall, Kent Cemetery, and Grant City Senior Center. For many years she was the familyʼs bottle calf caretaker. She always looked forward to seeing baby calves in the pastures and her chickens were always safe so long as she had her trusty hoe at the back door. Doris was affectionately known as Granny by her great-grandchildren and she firmly believed in spoiling them with gum, candy, toys, dollars and lottery tickets when they came to visit, stating that sheʼd rather see them enjoy it while she was alive. She made sure each of her grandchildren had a quilt that she lovingly cross-stitched herself. In her later years Granny

heard “loud and clear” even if she couldnʼt hear who she was talking to.

Where Do We Even Start ???

We want to say “Thank You” to everyone for the great Light Night in Albany! It was enjoyed by many, many people. First of all we want to thank two special ladies, Heather Locklar from Sublime Flamingo and Marilyn Wilmes from Briar Patch Flowers and Gifts for all their hard work organizing this event! Thank you for extending the invitations to be a part of Light Night to local businesses and individuals and thank you to all those who responded by accepting the invitations. Thank you to all those merchants who opened their doors to the community, to those who built floats for the incredible parade, to those who prepared food and drink for all to enjoy, and to those who sponsored the events that so many enjoyed. Thank you to all those who donated to the events, which raised money for some very good and needed causes.

As always, thanks to Santa for attending our Albany Light Night, to the delight of more than an estimated 150 children, and especially to all those parents and children who attended and stood in line for an extended period of time to visit with Santa.

There is no way we can thank all the people that it took to make Albany Light Night 2022 the huge success that it was, so to be safe we will not try to name everyone, so we won’t risk leaving someone out. It takes the entire community to make any event a success, no matter how big or small, or how big a contribution is made. Please, just know your contribution meant so much to this event’s success. We appreciate
