The Island City Christian & Calvary Stanberry Churches (Romans 6:1-4, What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore, we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.) Baptism, what, why and where of it all. Some would ask, ‘why do you water immerse baptize’? For one thing we see Jesus with John the Baptist in the river Jordan. (Matt. 15-16, it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him… When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water…) John was taking believers under the water of baptism for repentance whereas Jesus was baptized fulfilling all righteousness. When I baptize, I read from Romans 6 as we are told the symbolic significance of going under the water as Jesus would go underground; buried in the tomb to raise to newness of life no longer restrained by the flesh. The symbolism in understanding of this ceremony as the old self that once controlled our decisions by the flesh passes away, we receive the very essence of God by His holy spirit. Romans 6 answers the question of tolerable sin of which I’ve heard these people referred to as, ‘Carnal Christians’. Once again here in Romans anyone who claims Christ and willfully living in sin is forbidden by God. Did you not understand that when we accepted God’s mercy and grace it was because of a life was given so we may be forgiven, not only of original sin but sin we are tempted by daily? Jesus said: (Luke 24: repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name) Repentance, the acknowledgment of those attitudes contrary to God and turning from them. (Romans 12:1-2, present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God…do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.) Lord examine us, try our minds and hearts to see if there be anything unworthy.

WHY HE CARRIED THE TURKEY James Baldwin
In Richmond, Virginia, one Saturday morning, an old man went into the market to buy something. He was dressed plainly, his coat was worn, and his hat was dingy. On his arm he carried a small basket.
"I wish to get a fowl for to-morrow's dinner," he said. The market man showed him a fat turkey, plump and white and ready for roasting. "Ah! that is just what I want," said the old man. "My wife will be delighted with it."
A Bounty of Blessings Peace...Brotherhood...Sharing. That’s what the Thanksgiving holiday is all about.

“FOR ALL YOUR CUSTOM WHEEL & TIRE NEEDS”
He asked the price and paid for it. The market man wrapped a paper round it and put it in the basket. Just then a young man stepped up. "I will take one of those turkeys," he said. He was dressed in fine style and carried a small cane. "Shall I wrap it up for you?" asked the market man. "Yes, here is your money," answered the young gentleman; "and send it to my house at once." "I cannot do that," said the market man. "My errand boy is sick to- day, and there is no one else to send. Besides, it is not our custom to deliver goods." "Then how am I to get it home?" asked the young gentleman.
We’re So Thankful For A Bountiful Harvest. Wishing You And Yours A Happy Thanksgiving!
"I suppose you will have to carry it yourself," said the market man. "It is not heavy." "Carry it myself! Who do you think I am? Fancy me carrying a turkey along the street!" said the young gentleman; and he began to grow very angry. The old man who had bought the first turkey was standing quite near. He had heard all that was said. "Excuse me, sir," he said; "but may I ask where you live?" "I live at Number 39, Blank Street," answered the young gentleman; "and my name is Johnson." "Well, that is lucky," said the old man, smiling. "I happen to be going that way, and I will carry your turkey, if you will allow me."
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2021- THE NEW SHOPPER - PAGE 5
"Oh, certainly!" said Mr. Johnson. "Here it is. You may follow me." When they reached Mr. Johnson's house, the old man politely handed him the turkey and turned to go. "Here, my friend, what shall I pay you?" said the young gentleman. "Oh, nothing, sir, nothing," answered the old man. "It was no trouble to me, and you are welcome." He bowed and went on. Young Mr. Johnson looked after him and wondered. Then he turned and walked briskly back to the market. "Who is that polite old gentleman who carried my turkey for me?" he asked of the market man.
Fallon L. Stiens, DD Family Dental 660-783-2205 3524 US Hwy. 169 Stanberry, MO
"That is John Marshall, Chief Justice of the United States. He is one of the greatest men in our country," was the answer. The young gentleman was surprised and ashamed. "Why did he offer to carry my turkey?" he asked. "He wished to teach you a lesson," answered the market man. "What sort of lesson?" "He wished to teach you that no man should feel himself too fine to carry his own packages." "Oh, no!" said another man who had seen and heard it all. "Judge Marshall carried the turkey simply because he wished to be kind and obliging. That is his way."

Thanksgiving Divorce A man in Phoenix calls his son in New York the day before Thanksgiving and says,”I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough. “Pop, what are you talking about?” the son screams. We can’t stand the sight of each other any longer,” the father says. “We’re sick of each other, and I’m sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Chicago and tell her.” Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes

on the phone. “Like heck they’re getting divorced,” she shouts, “I’ll take care of this,” She calls Phoenix immediately, and screams at her father, “You are NOT getting divorced. Don’t do a single thing until I get there. I’m calling my brother back, and we’ll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don’t do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?” and hangs up. The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. “Okay,” he says, “they’re coming for Thanksgiving and paying their own way.”

FUNNY THANKSGIVING TRIVIA In 2013 it is reckoned that nearly 320 million turkeys have been reared for Thanksgiving celebrations. In the UK approximately 13 million turkeys are reared for Christmas Day. There appear to be three places in the USA named after this traditional meal: Turkey in Texas [population 491]; Turkey Creek, Louisiana [population
364]; and Turkey, North Carolina [population 267]. Three towns in Kansas also have the name Turkey. Do you know of any others? Following this discovery we have found that there are a number of places named Cranberry - perhaps after the sauce often eaten with turkey.
