For New Customers Until November 30, 2023 The Island City Christian & Calvary Stanberry Churches (Philippians 4:4, Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!) Rejoice in the Lord always! Always rejoicing, everyday rejoicing, during times of uncertainties and discouragement rejoicing, how is this possible? Before I go into the word of God to give the absolute foundational presence of rejoicing that all believers should have, I would like to share a short prayer. (Some time ago at the beginning of the monthly men’s prayer breakfast a visiting pastor asked an elderly farmer if he would give the blessing. Decked out in overalls and after removing his hat he began; “Lord, I Hate Buttermilk”. The visiting pastor opened one eye to glance at the farmer all the while wondering if he should have called someone else to give the prayer and what would be next, but without missing a beat the farmer continued; “Lord I hate Lard”. Well, now the young pastor started to grow concerned but once again without missing a beat the farmer continued, “And Lord, you know I don’t much care for raw white flour either”. This time as the pastor opened an eye he glanced around the room and saw that he wasn’t the only one to act as they were beginning to feel uncomfortable. Then at that very moment the farmer added, “But Lord, when you mix them all together and bake them, I sure do love them fresh warm biscuits. So Lord, when things come up that we don’t like, when life gets hard, when we don’t understand what you’re saying to us, help us to just relax and wait until you are done mixing. It’ll probably be even better than them there biscuits.) Yes, there are times in life that we would just as soon never have experienced but in the end, there is the promise. (Phil 4:3, whose names are in the Book of Life.) Yes, when the day is all said and done what really matters is knowing that our name is written in the Lambs book of life. This phrase, ‘Book of Life’ is in the Bible ‘8’ times of which 7 of these in the book of the Revelation are given in context of a warning of what will befall those whose names have now been written down. Take a moment to ‘Count your Blessings’ name them one by one and ‘Rejoice’.

Janet L. Shackleford
September 17, 1950 ❖ October 24, 2023 Janet L. Shackelford, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on October 24, 2023, at the age of 73. She was born on September 17, 1950, to the late John Leslie and Elizabeth Claudine (Miller) Daniel, in Gentryville, Missouri. Janet graduated from Stanberry High School in 1968. She married Rickey Joe Shackelford on October 26, 1968 and they were married for 50 years before his passing in 2019. Janet dedicated a remarkable 55 years of her life to the American Angus Association, where she was deeply appreciated for her love and friendly nature by colleagues.

She is survived by her sister, Linda Bentley; brother-in-law, Roger Shackelford; nieces and nephews, Susan Buttress (Jamie), Doug Bentley, and Derick Shackelford (Shelley); numerous other nieces, nephews, greatnieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family, and many workplace friends. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Rickey Joe Shackelford, her dear brother, Johnny Daniel, and brother-in-law, Kenny Bentley. As we remember Janet, her radiating warmth, loving nature, and friendly personality leave a positive memory etched in our hearts.
