(John 17:20, “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word) The ‘Lord’s Prayer’ for those who would believe in the risen son of God by faith as recorded and preserved many years ago for you and me. When I consider the eternal existence of Jesus as he transitioned from the dimension of ‘before time began’ into the flesh and knowing what the outcome of His time here on earth would be, it leaves me with an incredible sense of awe. This sense of awe seems to be that which many have lost in the world today. Jesus has spoken in such a way knowing that His very words would be preserved for you and me yet there are many who have created an ’I’, ‘me’ and ‘my’ god, who brings relevance to modern living as acceptance and tolerance no matter how fleshly the imagination would go. The living God of creation and the living ‘Sprit of Prophecy’ (Rev 19:10); Jesus would pray that we would possess His Love just as the Love of God the Father is in Him and He in us. In the second portion of chapter 17 Jesus proclaimed that He was not praying for the unbelieving but that He was praying for those who would believe that He came down from God and was about to ascend back to take His place at the right hand of the God of creation. Jesus Christ, the one who would endure incredible suffering in flesh and spirit as the propitiation for our wretchedness knows that we will be reading about these events as recorded by those who were with Him when it happened. In Chapter 18 Jesus would begin the journey to fulfil His purpose on this earth, but first He would pray in such a way as to ask that the suffering in the flesh not to be, but so as to not allow the flesh to glory He prayed, ‘Not of my will but thy will be done’. Let’s pray within ourselves in such a way that the will of God be done by denying the lust of the eyes, flesh and the pride of life so that we would live a life pleasing and fulfilling in the righteousness in God’s awe.
In Jesus name,

Pat is survived by his brother and sisters-in-law, Randy and Darlene Jeffries, and Pamela Jeffries, all of McFall. His visits home to Missouri were greatly anticipated by his nieces and nephews, and he tried to never miss a holiday or special occasion. As the beloved “Uncle Pat,” he spent a great deal of time teaching each of them how to shoot, fix a fence line, ride a pony, bake his favorite oatmeal cookies and famous ap ple pie from scratch, and just engaging in general orneriness and pandemonium with them. They are: Tuanette (Josh) Hulet of Pattonsburg, Missouri; Caleb (Malinda) Jef fries, of Smithville, Missouri; Josh Jeffries of McFall, Missouri; and Jennifer (Blake) Parker of Denton, Texas. Great-nieces and nephews were taught much of the same and include: Taran Fordyce, Ryelin Hulet, and Alanna Hulet all of Pattonsburg, Mis souri; Darby Jeffries of Smithville, Missouri; and Rebekah Parker of Denton, Texas.
Marlin P. Jeffries, a long-time member of The First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, will be laid to rest at his church’s columbarium.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, in Greenwood Chapel on White Settlement Road, in Fort Worth, Texas. Cremation followed the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Glioblastoma Foundation.
