The Island City Christian & Calvary Stanberry Churches
(Jude 7, Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.) The Holy Bible is a book of instruction with clear examples set so that when judgement comes no one will be able to say they didn’t know. Consequence for tolerating and engaging in sin gives incentive for one to repent but there are those who question God’s judgement and embrace the current climate of the ‘Lukewarm church’. Many of the faithful and unfaithful will claim that their god is a god of love who would never judge and send anyone to eternal fire and damnation, yet here in the New Testament we are instructed to look at how God judges in times past as examples for those who fail to heed His righteous instruction. The word of God is quite clear concerning sexual purity and the conscious effort required to keep oneself pure. In another place the Apostle Paul encourages the faithful to be watchful in our actions, emotions, and thoughts that are evident with the attitude of complacency, thus, eternal consequence. (1Cor 10:6-10, Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell; nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents; nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer. Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.) Consequence for choices made are a part of life that modern psychology is blotting out from the mindset of society. God’s word is enduring and eternal with instruction for righteousness. If you find yourself being tempted in deeds of unrighteousness, be aware as judgement will befall one day as everyone will give an account before Jesus Christ. Kneel before Jesus in repentance and receive forgiveness.

There is no way to express the thankfulness in our hearts for all that was done for us during the short illness and passing of our dad Paul Dean. God blessed us with the kindest and most caring nursing staff as they watched over and soothed our dad. Dr. Brantly and Dr. Dias were there to lead us on the journey with sound medical treatment and advice. A difficult path was made bearable. Thank you, Ginger, for your support in navigating the unknowns.
Andy was there to help plan for our “until we meet again” service. He was so kind and willing to listen to our final requests for dad. We are so grateful that he was there throughout the public coming to pay their respects at the church. It was humbling to watch the people file in the doors to let us know how our dad had touched their lives. Most of the stories were unknown to us because he was never one to boast about deeds done.
Thank you to the Christian Church as they welcomed the service into the sanctuary. Roger “Slick” Rice and Pastor Laverne Smithson paid a loving tribute to dad that offered sincere condolences. Bryan and Megan were so good to get the music together for the service. To those who gave of their time to serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers we say, “May God bless you for the part you played in Dadʼs life.” The women of the church served us a delicious, bountiful meal with a happy heart and a joyful smile. Thank you seems such a trite thing to say, but we truly consider it one of the ways God blessed us.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 NIV
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day— and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Rest in peace and love, Dad!
