Albany, MO; - Wanda Popplewell Pickerel was born on February 14, 1932 in Pattonsburg, Missouri to John (Buzz) and Hildred (Walker) Popplewell. Wanda passed away February 13, 2023, one day shy of her 91st birthday at Mosaic Life Care in Albany, Mo.
Wanda attended public school, and later, business school in Kansas City, Missouri. Wanda worked at Pioneer Cap Factory in Pattonsburg as a machine operator for 30 years. She also worked at the Albany Regional Center and the Stanberry
February 13, 2023 Skill Center. Wanda made many friends in the community through her cake baking and decorating, sewing and quilt making and her fundraising efforts for the building of the new Albany Animal Shelter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Kenneth Popplewell, 9 nephews, 2 nieces and Camaron Goble.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Pickerel of the home; sister, Emily Ellis, Stanberry; her “Little Bobby Goble”, Albany; stepson, Kevin; step-daughters, Karla, Karen and Kristina; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral Service was held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany. Burial was in the McFall Cemetery, McFall, MO. Gentry County K-9 well, it’s that time again. as most of you know, the Gentry County K-9 unit is funded by donations. we’re hoping to get an earlier start this year and not be scrambling right before training time. with that being said, I want to thank our biggest supporters, Last Chance relocators and Midwest Creations. these two companies have donated several thousand dollars and a lot of time to supporting K-9 Jesse. we also want to thank everybody who has donated and helped us have a successful 2022 year!

With reference to the Lord’s Day, do we consciously take time and prepare our spirit and mind for worship? I’ve heard it said, “Seven days make a week, while seven days without worshiping God makes a person spiritually weak.” As we go through the week our minds are often filled with the happenings of daily life as we pay the bills, watch the news that tends to be overfilled with the anxieties of this world that when it comes to devoting time to God our vision of the heavenlies in the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ becomes blurred. (Proverbs 16:1-3, The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.) Take time every day to be alone with God in prayer. Much of the modern media is merely a propaganda machine using the next distraction to direct one’s focus away from the true realities of life. One of the greatest examples of communion with God is when we shut off the distractions of life and enter private prayer and contemplation as we listen in our spirit to that, ‘still small voice’. I often pray for God to clear our minds of the affairs of this life as we refocus our minds on the heavenlies. Jesus tells us to, “Look up for our redemption draws nigh”. Take time to prepare your heart and receive wisdom from above. (James 3:17, But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.) Take this moment to prepare your heart and mind for being in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day. What day is the Lord’s Day? (Mark 2:28 the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”) Some may say this day and others say that day, but the bible says every day is the Lord’s Day. Humbly seek the Lord Jesus every day.
