The Island City Christian & Calvary Stanberry Churches (John 15:11, “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.) Joy, one of the fruits of the spirit as noted in: (Galatians 5:22, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.)
Jesus spoke of affirming our prayers when we ask in His name by receiving a gift from Heaven and evidenced by the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Fruits are that which are produced from the vine or tree after a time of nurturing, watering and deep feeding the roots with that which brings about the very essence of life. When a tree is given the proper amount of water, sunlight and nutrients from the connec tion to the ground fruits are produced. The fruit of the spirit is one of Joy and Je sus desires those who believe in him to be overflowing with Joy, but in this world there are times when life circumstance tends to drain us of that Joy. There are ‘9’ items in this list of the fruits of the spirit and ‘8’ of them seem to go along with the spirit of ‘Joy’ except for Longsuffering. Although this fruit is possibly the most useful of all as living in the temporary eventually brings about a sense of loss. I’ve often spoken to those who are experiencing grief due to the loss or a loved one, emotional, financial, or physical ability. There are songs that help bring us back to the Joy of the Lord, ‘The Joy of the Lord, He is my Strength’, ‘I will not falter I will not faint’, The Joy of the Lord is my strength’: (From the book of Nehemiah 8:10). How to exist in a world of turmoil when even at best we look forward to living in a convalescent center needing to be cared for when our physical and mental faculties begin to fade? The ‘Joy of the Lord’ is how. How to accept the loss of a loved one, especially a child, Husband or Wife whom we have adored and loved with all our Heart? The ‘Joy of the Lord’ that’s how. Going to God, praying in Jesus’ name gives us the opportunity to see past the here and now into the eternal. In the Joy of Jesus,
Pastor Bill Bracken

After working for Dugdale Packing Co. for 23 years as a butcher, he left and worked for Fleming Companies and moved to Wichita, KS where he was a beef selector. From 1976-1981 he lived in Gladstone, MO as a meat buyer. In 1981 he moved to Topeka, KS and then in 1984 transferred to Oklahoma City, OK where he worked in the corporate building for 8 years before retiring and moving back to Albany. Red and Nadine enjoyed traveling and our beautiful country. Nadine had been in 48 states and Red almost that many. They also went on an Alaskan cruise and went through many of the Canadian Provinces. They also got a quick 10 day trip to Europe to see 4 countries. It was so educational. They always thought they were lucky to get to see so much of God’s world He made for all of his children.In1952 Red accepted God and his precious son, Jesus, as his Savior and was baptized at Wyatt Park Christian Church. He was proud to say that his children and their children are also Christian families. In his retirement he took up golf and was very talented even in his 60’s. Golf gave him so much pleasure making friends and enjoying the sport with them. Red spent the last year of his life at Pine View Retirement Home in Stanberry, MO and was loved by all. Red’s family meant the world to him and he will be missed so much. He was the best Dad and Papa one could have. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany. Burial was in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany.
