The Island City Christian & Calvary Stanberry Churches (1 John 5:18-19, We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.) Jesus would say to Nicodemus that to enter the kingdom of God one must be ‘born again’. Born of the spirit of which the old self has passed away and the very essence of holiness in Jesus Christ guides and protects as we follow the straight path into the narrow gate. Jesus would say: (Matt 7:14, Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.) Jesus is the ‘Way’ the ‘Truth’ and the ‘Life’ and when He says few will enter heaven I believe it, even though it makes my heart grieve. What causes most of the world’s population not to be allowed to enter Heaven? John said that they are under the control of the wicked one. The evidence of the wicked one is everywhere as our current society has been deceived by the spirit of the god of this world. (2 Cor 4:4, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not) Sad to say, but many who claim faith in Jesus Christ will scoff at the statement from John in chapter 5 that a person born of God does not sin. This is also repeated in (1John 3:4-6, Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.) In the days in which we live I fear these words are scoffed at, even in the church. The bible tells of times such as these in the book of the Revelation as the ‘Lukewarm’ church. The world in which we live has no love of the truth but has been deceived by the god of this world just as Adam and Eve when they took of the knowledge of good and evil. Original sin is when a person determines within themselves that which is right and wrong. As in Proverbs 1, ‘they choose not the fear of the Lord but perish due to their complacency’.

The Shared FOSA Technician will assist landowners within Harrison, Worth, Gentry, Mercer, and Grundy Counties with the implementation of state and federal cost-share programs. Carlene Crawford November 1, 1931 - August 6, 2021
Carlene Crawford, 89, of McFall, Missouri, passed away August 6, 2021 at Pine View Manor in Stanberry, MO. Carlene was born November 1, 1931 in Taylor County, Iowa, and raised on a farm near Isadora, Missouri, she was the daughter of Floyd Lyman and Myra Ruth (Cortner) Ames. On December 24, 1948, Carlene was united in marriage to J.C. Crawford. They were actively engaged in farming. They lived on the same farm all their married life. J.C. preceded her in death May 1, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, step-father Clarence Childers, son Mark, grandson Lucas Crawford, granddaughter Lacey Crawford, brothers: E.N. Ames, Bob Wilson and Floyd Ray Ames (who went down on the USS Franklin during World War II), and sister, Norma Hibbs. Carlene was a member of the Albany Presbyterian Church, Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of various other clubs. She was a national democratic delegate two times, where she went to New York and Washington, DC. Survivors: son, Bryon Crawford (Norma), McFall; grandchildren, Levi (Maureen) Crawford, Shawnee, KS; Landon (Kathy) Crawford, McFall; Julie Crawford (Andrew), Albany; Jackie Crawford, Albany; great-grandchildren, Colt and Macklin Crawford, Zoey and Mariah Crawford, Alena and Elsie Crawford; sisters-in-law, Shirley Wilson, Kansas City, MO; Ruby Crawford, Albany; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A private family graveside service and burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, McFall, MO.
