The Island City Christian & Calvary Stanberry Churches (Hebrews 11:1, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.) Faith, how would we describe the concept of faith to someone? God has given us the definition with examples of those who have exhibited faith in their lives long before Jesus Christ walked this earth, or the New Testament Church was formed. I encourage everyone to accept as truth the first five words of the bible; not expecting to be able to comprehend every little nuance or ideal but merely to believe in faith. (Genesis 1:1, In the beginning God created). There it is in the beginning God created something from nothing by His Word. (John 1:1-3, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.) The foundation of our faith, the chief cornerstone is in believing God spoke and all that is or ever will be created. We live by faith and not by sight in that God can create something from nothing. God can create light from darkness, life from death and joy from sorrow. God has given us His word to guide us in good times and bad, to encourage and enlighten as we proceed along the pathway of life as a lamp to our feet and the light of His love. When hardship, or disappointment distorts our vision in this life, remember that God did not necessarily cause the situation, but He is there to lift us up with the blessed hope of joy returning and sadness being a mere memory. What if faith? (Psalm 27:13-14, I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!) No matter how bleak your situation may seem, take these words to heart. In the love of Jesus, Pastor Bill Bracken
