Mary~OBITUARY~ Lea Doughty

June 26, 1952 - July 8, 2023

Mary Lea Doughty was born June 26, 1952, in Maryville Missouri to Wayne Eldon Nelson and Mary Irene (Everhart). She was the oldest of 6 children born to this union. She returned to her Heavenly home on July 8, 2023.

Mary grew up in the Elmo area. Her junior year of high school the family moved to a farm near Westboro, Missouri. Mary graduated from Tarkio High School in May of 1970. She then attended a semester of schooling at NWMSU in Maryville.

On December 29, 1970 Mary married Danny Moore. Over the next five years two children were born into this family. They raised their family on the farm, just miles from both sets of grandparents and many other family members and beloved neighbors. Mary spent many years being a stay-at-home mom and farm wife. Once the children were older, she worked at Excel, the beef packing plant. Mary and Danny later divorced.

Mary was married to Paul L. Doughty on September 15, 1991. They attended LPN school in Maryville, Missouri together, graduating in 1993. In 1994 they moved to Florida where Mary worked as a nurse for the Pacso County Jail, until she retired. There she met many co-workers who became beloved friends.

In May of 2020 Mary and Paul returned to Missouri to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She spent the last few years attending sporting events, weddings, graduations, church activities and family dinners.

Mary was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Blanchard, Iowa. Countless hours were spent teaching, attending, serving meals, and even driving elderly neighbors to church. This giving example laid a great foundation for her children. Mary currently attended the United Methodist Church in Albany, Missouri, where she found a welcoming, supportive congregation.

Mary loved to grow fresh vegetables, sew, bake, crochet, enjoy nature and read. She utilized all of these talents to serve and bless the lives of others.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband Paul. She is survived by her siblings; Wayne Nelson (Terri), Frances Stockstill (Mark), Kathy Vaughan (Kenny), William Nelson (Sherrie) and Martha Young (Jim). Children; Kristie Poppa (Randy), Mike Moore. Grandchildren; Megan (Benjamin), Daniel (Holly), Sarah (Tanner), Dallas, Emily, Lily, Jordan, Timothy, Chloe, Paul, and Samuel. Her first great-grandchild, Luke, was born in February and her second greatgrandson will be born in September. Plus, numerous beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and life-long friends.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at the United Methodist Church, Albany, MO. Following the memorial service in Albany there was a brief service at the Tarkio Home Cemetery in Tarkio, MO.

Memorials may be made to the Tarkio Home Cemetery or Albany United Methodist Church Loving Stitches in care of the Roberson-Polley Chapel, 403 N. Hundley, Albany, MO 64402.

Judith Lynne (Marsh) Williams

November 17, 1944 - July 6, 2023

Judith Lynne (Marsh) Williams, age 78, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left this world on July 6, 2023, in Liberty, MO after a long battle with several ailments. She was preceded in death by her parents, several aunts and uncles, two brothers-in-law, many cherished cats and other loved ones.

Judy was born November 17, 1944 in a small farmhouse in northwest Albany, MO to parents Ted and Blondina “Bonnie” (Silkett) Marsh. She was raised in and around Gentry County. After her mother’s death, Judy was raised by family members including aunts and uncles Bill and Opal Silkett, Jimmie and Bettye Silkett, Maxine and John Swan, and her sister Patricia and her husband Ron Craven.

Judy attended school in Albany, MO but moved her junior year and graduated from North Andrew High School in 1962. She attended college in Maryville, MO. Judy enjoyed movies, reading, art, and dancing in her youth.

Judy married Charles “Charlie” Leland Williams from Albany, MO on December 31, 1966. They moved to North Kansas City where she worked for the Charles F. Curry Company. She was repeatedly told children were not likely, but the Lord eventually blessed her with three sons: Charles “Chas” Lee, born 1974; Thomas Jon, born 1976; and Andrew Franklin, born 1979. Her role as a mother was her most cherished position in life.

Soon after the birth of their first son, the couple moved back to Albany, MO to  be near her mother-in-law, Edith (Glick) Williams in her final years. Judy helped  with running the farm and also worked for the Albany R-III school district as a teacher’s aide for many years. She enjoyed being involved in children’s lives and left many wonderful impressions on her former students. Judy also attended church services throughout her life including Lone Star Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Albany, and the Knoxville Community Church of Knoxville, MO.

In 2005, Judy moved with her husband to her dream home which they built near Lathrop, MO to be near her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed entertaining family with her great cooking and taking them on vacations. She also enjoyed painting, watching basketball any time she could, pampering her cats, playing cards with friends, but most of all enjoyed being a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her home was always open to anyone.

Judy is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband, Charlie Williams; sons: Chas (Liberty, MO), Thomas (Liberty, MO), Andrew and wife Amy (Des Moines IA); grandchildren: Kiley, Corie, and Charlie; great-grandson: Oliver (all of Liberty MO); sisters: Patricia Craven (Cleveland, TN), Sondra Worden (Meridian, ID); and brothers: Teddy “TJ” Marsh and wife Pam (Ellensburg WA), and Mike Marsh and wife Mikel (Red Bluff, CA); sister-in-law: Maryann Shores (Savannah, MO); and multiple cousins, nephews, nieces, and other loved friends and family.

A memorial service was held at Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany, MO on Saturday, July 15, 2023. The family held a private burial. Donations may be made in Judy’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude. org or the KC Pet Project at https://kcpetproject.org or if you are so inclined, use your donation to adopt a pet in her memory for your family.

The Island City Christian & Calvary Stanberry Churches

(Psalm 34:1-3, I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.) Blessing the Lord is far removed from much of the modern church. How, might you ask? The modern church is of self, I, me, my worship consisting of seeking god’s blessings as his plan for your life but far removed from a biblical relationship with God our creator. I wonder how many start their day in humble prayer and adoration of God for the very essence of life and breath. In this song from God’s song book David, yet to be king is in a place of confusion, or should I say has departed from that place of intense anxiety in serving the Lord. While seeking to be obedient to the will of God he was persecuted by those representing God thus causing him to flee into the dangers of the world only to be turned away. As he walks down the road leaving the evils of society that would have destroyed him; he realizes that although things may not seem to be going the way he may have envisioned, He was still under God’s protection. David had been so overwhelmed by the blatant wickedness from those leading God’s people that as he fled, the bible records: (1 Samuel 21:13, And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.) Because David did not support the way of King Saul who was about doing that which was popular with the people he was persecuted, cast out of their society and into the world. Sometimes we forget to bless the Lord for that which He has provided and not concentrate on what pleases the flesh. Bless the Lord always giving thanks to Him for the very essence of life. Yes, there are those who gather in social groups seeking to advance that which gives the appearance of godliness but as Paul spoke to Timothy, (2 Timothy 3:5, Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.) In Jesus Love, Pastor Bill Bracken
