The love of the world can be as simple as loving the taste of a piece of chapel pie, or the beauty of a Missouri sunset as the heat of a summer day fades away. Some people have pets they love with their whole being while we all love our children, grand kids and hopefully most of our family members. But the love God is describing has as its foundation a sense of permanency as expressed in the above text by the word, “Propitiation”. (Propitiation as defined is the act of appeasing pending wrath by atonement, thus gaining favor versus condemnation due to the judgement of God.) Propitiation is a word that describes the very act of love as God transfers the Love of His only son to those who will accept by faith. Now, back to the word ‘Love’. Jesus said: (Luke 6:32-38, “But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same…But love your enemies,) Only when we gain an appreciation for the fullness of God’s Love does our love move from the flesh to the fullness of Godly love in Jesus Christ.

This is a part-time, 32 hour-per-week night shift position. ~ OBITUARY ~ Megan Ann Kaufman Scott 1984 v 2021

Megan Anne Kauffman Scott was born on July 14, 1984 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, Missouri and passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in St. Joseph, MO at the age of 36.

Her parents were John Edward and Rebecca Jean (Dooley) Kauffman. She grew up in Oregon, Missouri along with her three siblings, Rachel, Jenny, and Mark.

She was active in academic pursuits, volleyball, choir, and band as a percussionist, where she had leadership roles in many of these activities. Outside of school she was highly involved in gymnastics. She graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in 2003. Education being important to her, Megan began taking classes at Northwest Missouri State University, but her life took her down a different path. She gave birth to Mason Patrick Graff in 2004, and Morgan Summer Graff in 2005. Taking care of her children became the center of her life. After being a stay at home mom for a few years, she re-entered the workforce at Bank Midwest in St. Joseph, Missouri.

In 2010, Megan met her soulmate, Brian Dean Scott. They married on March 3rd, 2012 at Star Chapel United Methodist Church. They made their home together on Empire Prairie, on the farm of Brian’s grandparents. There they expanded their business, Prairie Performance, which builds, repairs, and updates high-performance pulling tractors for customers all across the United States. Brian says she was the boss, but this was more than just a business. The tractor pulling community was their world, and the people in it became family for them.

Megan was very supportive of all of her children’s education and extracurricular activities. As the kids progressed in school, Megan became president of the band boosters and took initiative in improving the quality of the band program. Ever the proud mother, there was nothing that the kids did that she didn’t want to be involved in. She was a fixture at all of her kid’s events, including ball games, academic meets, and band recitals. She was all about time with family, and they took many trips and vacations together. She was always planning their next big adventure, and Disney parks were a staple destination. Christmas was a major family tradition, and Megan was adamant about celebrating the season. She always began planning the next year’s Christmas as soon as one finished.

In October of 2020, Megan was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer. The tractor pulling community pulled together to help Megan with a tremendous and overwhelming show of support. The texts, phone calls, emails, food, kitchen appliances, offers of assistance, and countless small and thoughtful acts of kindness they provided demonstrated to the Scott family the impact that Megan had on the pulling community, and how much the pulling community meant to her. Words cannot express the gratitude that the family has for this support. After 39 radiation treatments, 6 chemotherapy treatments, and many side effects from that battle, Megan’s body was tired, worn down, and in lots of pain. She was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, June 26th, and then on to the ICU for a high heart rate, low blood pressure, and pneumonia. After an attempt to place her on a ventilator and stabilize her, her body was done. She passed away on the morning of June 29th at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri. No more suffering, no more pain.

Megan will be missed by her family, including her husband Brian Scott; children, Mason and Morgan Graff; parents, John and Rebecca Kauffman of Tucson Arizona, mother-in-law, Joyce Scott of King City Missouri; siblings, Rachel (David) Esely of Lee’s Summit Missouri, Jenny (Benjamin) Rady of Chicago Illinois, and Mark Kauffman of Maryville Missouri; aunt, Eva (Randy) Morlock of Sunrise Beach Missouri; nieces, Kendall Esely and Katherine Rady; nephews, Dylan Esely and William Rady, and other extended family and multitudes of friends.

The family loves you all, but there is nothing for the family nor you to say at this time. Silent prayers of strength and understanding will be heard by our Lord and felt by the entire family.

Megan has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, King City, MO. The family will hold a Celebration of Life, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24 at the family business, Prairie Performance. Memorials may be made to the Mason and Morgan Continuing Education Fund in care of Roberson Funeral Home, PO Box 153, King City MO 64463. To honor the importance that Megan placed on education, Brian Scott will be establishing a Pulling for Megan Scholarship to preserve Megan’s memory within the pulling community, and to help the members of the community advance their education.

~ OBITUARY ~ LLOYD HARDEN GLENDENNING March, 24 1931 v July, 11 2021 Lloyd Harden Glendenning, son of Harden & Lola (McPherson) Glendenning, was born March 24, 1931 on the family farm.

Lloyd attended and graduated from Mount Ayr High School with the class of 1949.

On December 22, 1951, Lloyd was united in marriage to LaVerne Marion Smith. Lloyd & LaVerne would welcome into their home two sons: Paul Harden and Todd Allen.

Lloyd’s heart was for the automotive business, and he realized a long and successful career in the business. He began at Ames Cross Motors before going to work for Harvey Bros in May 1953. Lloyd became a partner in the business and in November 1988, he purchased the business from the Harvey’s. Lloyd never actually retired, and he enjoyed the day to day activities at Glendenning Motor Company. If you’ve driven by the car dealership and noticed all of the red vehicles, you now know that red was Lloyd’s favorite color. For many of the employees, it was more than just a job; it was family. In the 1980’s, Lloyd, along with his very close friend & relative Wilford Harden, were partners in a convenience store in Maryville, Missouri.

Lloyd loved racing and was an active race car driver for 25 years, racing on tracks throughout Missouri and Iowa. He began in car #0 but took over #33 from Bill Hughes and #33 has since graced the side of a car being raced by Glendenning’s.

Lloyd was very outgoing and loved being around people. He enjoyed eating at various restaurants and socializing in area establishments. For several years, Lloyd hosted the annual Glendenning Customer Appreciation event each year at the Mount Ayr American Legion. There was always food, drinks and dancing to the Greg Spevak Orchestra band.

Lloyd enjoyed golfing and the Glendenning Motor Company would host an annual golf tournament as well.

LaVerne passed away on July 1, 2019. Lloyd became a resident of the Mount Ayr Health Care Center and he peacefully passed away there on July 11, 2021.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife LaVerne; brother Max and sister-inlaw Donna Glendenning.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons Paul (Jodi Manville) Glendenning of Mount Ayr and Todd (Angie) Glendenning of Redding; Lywanda Case of Mount Ayr, whom he thought of as a daughter; grandchildren Kelsey Larsen, Jacob (Makayla Maslanka) Glendenning, Hannah (Sean Swanson) Glendenning, Blair Glendenning, Tya (Chris Webb) Wilson; great grandchildren Makade Wilson, Liam Wilson, Skylar Webb, Cameron Webb; sister-in-law Janet Glendenning; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Following the service at the cemetery, there will be a Celebration of Life for Roger and his daughter-in-law Megan Scott, who passed away June 29, 2021. This will be held immediately following the ceremony at the cemetery until 4:00 p.m. at Prairie Performance, located 2 miles south of the cemetery. All friends and family are welcome to come have a cool drink at Brian’s business (air conditioned building), and share your stories, your memories and the good times we have all shared with Roger and Megan. Please feel free to come and go as you please to this casual and informal gathering to honor our loved ones.

Albany, MO: Fred Barnes, 78, Albany, MO passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at his home.

Freddie (Fred) Elwood Barnes was born December 2, 1942, on a farm south of Oxford, Missouri, to James and Helen Louise (Roberts) Barnes. He attended grade school in a one room school house, Concord & Oxford. Fred graduated in 1960 from Grant City High (Worth County).

Upon graduation, he attended Gards Business College in St. Joseph, Mo. In March of 1961, he began employment as a parts manager for Lawson Truck & Equipment in Stanberry, Mo. He remained there until retirement in March 2005, completing 44 years of service. He was known for his outstanding knowledge and memory regarding Case IH International Harvester truck and farm equipment.

After retirement from Lawson’s, Fred’s work never ended. He enjoyed working part time for Derr Equipment in Maryville, two car dealerships in Albany, and mowing yards for TLC Group Home. He was so good to also assist his sister, Jody, with delivering supplies to summer school programs in Northwest Missouri, as well as volunteering his services to assist Gentry County wards of the court.

Fred was a member of the Pizz Ridge Indian Head Campground where he served as their president until death. His favorite place to be was spending time at Pizz Ridge, camping and visiting with his dear friends, Lorene Harris, Marilyn Pritchett, John Tiemann, and all other camping members.

Fred loved attending bluegrass music festivals and local opries for many years. In February, he was excited to be able to attend Rhonda Vincent’s induction in the Grand Ole Opry. He always enjoyed driving places to see the countryside.

Preceded in death, whom he lived with and cared for during their lifetime, James Allen Barnes and Helen (Louise) Roberts Barnes. Also preceded in death, Kip Gerard Stoll.

Survivors include sister, Jody (Barnes) Novak and his niece Jennee (Barnes) Gregory who he so loved, and her husband, David Gregory, all of Albany. Uncle Elwood Barnes of Waterloo, Iowa, and cousin Helen Marie Myers (Steve) and family (Mark and Carla). Step survivors include Jordan Stoll (Kevin) and Jolie Mae, Chris Novak (Bobbie), Elizabeth, Emma and Ella. Also, Tara Novak Lynch (Jason), Paige and PJ. Funeral Services were held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13 at Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO. Burial followed in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, MO. J.T. & Loretta Newby of Pattonsburg, MO, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on July 21, 2021.

They were married on this date in 1961, in Miami, Oklahoma. They bought a small farm outside of Pattonsburg in 1969, where they both still reside today. Both worked in the printing & book bindery industry in Kansas City.

They are the parents to: Sandra (Tony) Gallus of Maysville, MO, Marquitta (Brent) Brown of Coffey, MO, Michele (Roberto) Valencia of Tucson, AZ, & Valerie (Guy) Ring of Savannah, MO. They have 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, & 3 step-great-great grandchildren.
