Those who have gone before us, that is, those who have left this body of flesh entering the eternal existence of the spirit. The Apostle Paul is reaffirming the assurance we have in Jesus, (2 Cor 5:8, We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.) The season of our existence goes from birth to death yet is not the end of consciousness. We are spiritual beings who temporally inhabit a physical vessel that will one day transition from the things that are temporary to the eternal. (Ecc 12:7, Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.) From the beginning of creation God took the dust from the ground and breathed life into it creating Mankind. When the time comes, we will all return to God in the spirit, being changed from the mortal to immortal. (1 Cor 15:44, It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.) To think of entering into the dimension of eternal life after most of us are barely able to grasp the concept of this life is a mystery. Living in this vessel of flesh with our limited understanding of the natural containing only that which we have accumulated over the years, it would be a sad thing not to know the assurance of being ‘Born Again’ in the spirit of God through his only Son Jesus the Christ. We can easily become overwhelmed with grief when the physical presence we have grown so close to and dependent on for the loving relationship deep within our very being is no longer with us. These verses from the Bible let us know that the spirit has departed, the flesh has returned to the dust and our loved ones exist as if they were only asleep awaiting the time when we will join them in the Heavenlies.

The City of Albany has arranged for a roll-off dumpster to be placed in the parking lot located at 302 W Bethany, just north of the Albany Community Center, on Saturday, June 24. It will open at 9 am and will remain until 2 pm or until filled.
The dumpster will be monitored and proof of residency within the city limits will be required (driver’s license, utility bill, etc.). All refuse must be placed directly in the dumpster. Only household waste will be accepted—no yard waste, construction debris, household hazardous waste or tires allowed.
