This year we are faced with several problems that need to be addressed this year at the museum: Back walls need repaired, need better drainage of water from the roof, and a floor needs new covering. We had to tear out a floor and put new floor joists in due to termites. We now have the building sprayed twice a year. With these added expenses, plus our normal day to day expenses, our budget is in sad condition. We would like to thank the members and guests for supporting the museum in the past, and for your generosity in the valuable donations or loans to the Museum and Depot. If you have any items you would loan or donate, they would be greatly appreciated and displayed proudly. We hope you will find the time to visit and take a journey through Gentry County’s history.

Ron Richards To Be Guest Speaker At The 2017 62nd Annual Worth County Alumni Reunion The 62nd Annual Worth County Alumni Reunion will be held in the Worth County R-III High School cafeteria in Grant City on Sunday, June 25th, 2017.

The Reunion will begin with a carry-in dinner at 12:30 PM and program will follow at 1:45 PM. Drinks and table service will be provided.

All graduates, spouses and friends are invited to come and enjoy the fellowship and program. The cafeteria is air conditioned. Alumni Directory Books will be available at the registrar’s desk for $20.00 each. Proceeds are used for Scholarships. The speaker at this year’s Alumni Banquet will be Ron Richards and we will also have local entertainment.

ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER:

Ron Richards graduated in 1967 and continued his formal education graduating from Missouri Western College in 1971. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and began flight training in Pensacola, Florida in January 1972.

Completing primary training, he was selected for basic jet and advanced jet flight school. He received his wings of gold in May 1973 and began fleet transition training in the F4 Phantom built by McDonnell Aircraft in St Louis, Missouri. Ron went on to fly many aircraft including helicopters throughout his 26 plus years in the Marine Corps but he primarily flew fighter aircraft. He was the first Marine selected as an exchange officer to fly the Air Force’s F15 Eagle (another McDonnell aircraft) as well as being selected to fly in the first operational F18 squadron for the Marine Corps. While flying the F18 Hornet (and yet another McDonnell aircraft), Ron commanded an F18 fighter squadron on the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. He later commanded the F18 training squadron, the Marine Corps’ largest fixed wing squadron. Prior to his final tour, Colonel Richards commanded a Marine Air Group consisting of nine squadrons, 75 aircraft, 3500 Marines, Sailors and Civilian personnel. He retired from active duty in the Marine Corps in 1997.

Ron is currently employed by a commercial real estate development company; Grace Companies. He has served as the company Chief Pilot for over sixteen years flying a small corporate jet as well as the Director of the Company Foundation. He has almost 10,000 flight hours.

He is married to Rhonda McClellan Richards (class of 1966) and they have three daughters and six grandchildren as well as one great grandchild. Ron is the son of Grant City resident, Marynell Richards. Ron and Rhonda live on a small farm east of Grant City.
