HELP WANTED City of Stanberry, Missouri Electric System Operator / Utility Worker The City of Stanberry is looking to hire one or two individuals in the Utilities Department. The Electric System Operator is responsible for managing the Electric Department. Stanberry has underground electric distribution system. The individual will have or be able to obtain Journeyman Lineman status, 2 years of Experience in Municipal Utilities is preferred, climbing qualified for incoming transmission lines, qualified bucket truck & digger truck operator, rubber gloving, termination & splicing of underground wire, installation of CT & PT Metering, and advanced transformer connection & troubleshooting.

The position works with the Utility Superintendent to prepare electric projects including budgeting, ordering materials, and laying out projects.

Must follow the National Electric Code, perform meter reading once a month, complete job tickets when needed, and assist in other departments when assigned.

40 hour work week with overtime when needed, one weekend a month on call.

Compensation – qualifications based.

The City of Stanberry offers 100% Employee, 100% Dependent, and 50% Spouse health insurance.

~OBITUARY~ Kathryn Louise Anthony October 8, 1937 - May 4, 2022

Kathryn Louise Anthony, 84, of Albany, Missouri, passed away May 4, 2022 at the home of her son Ronnie, surrounded by her family. She was born October 8, 1937 in Gentry, Missouri, the daughter of Homer and Anna Belle (Osborn) Sharp.

Kathryn was united in marriage to Roger Dwight Anthony on July 14, 1957. He preceded her in death April 27, 2009.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, son Roger Dale Anthony and great-greatgranddaughter Kaia Wiederholt.

She worked as a machinist for the cap factories in Stanberry and Bethany before retiring. Kathryn was a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church.

Survivors: sons, Ronnie (Melissa) Anthony, Albany; Larry (Shelly) Anthony, New Hampton; Gerald (Becky) Anthony, Evans, CO; daughters, Kathy (Ed) Estep, Albany; Karen Anthony (Jeff Cline), McFall; daughter in law, Linda Anthony, Grant City; sisters, Carol (James) Burks, King City; Joyce (Jerry) McCrary, St. Joseph; Mary Hunsucker, Kansas City, MO; brother, Charles Sharp, Holt, MO; 37 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the RobersonPolley Chapel, Albany with burial in the Green Ridge Cemetery, Gentry, Missouri. Burton Wilson, 95, Stanberry, MO passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, in Stanberry, MO. He was born on February 2, 1927, in Ravenwood, Missouri the son of G.C. and Ruby (Lewis) Wilson.

On September 18, 1951, he married Betty Treese in Fayette, Missouri. She survives of the home.

Burton served in the United States Army and was a member of the Raymond Sager American Legion Post #260 of Stanberry. He was also a member of the Stanberry First Christian Church.

He collected toy tractors, enjoyed playing cards and took much pride in his clean cars and manicured lawn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norris Wilson and son-in-law, Terry Raymond.

Burton is also survived by his daughters, Sandi Gerhart, Stanberry, MO, Shirley (Herb) Talmadge, St. Joseph, MO, Sonia (Gayle) Misemer, St. Joseph, MO, and Stacy Raymond, Stanberry, MO; grandchildren, Brooke, Natalie, Kristin, Sam, Elliott, Madeleine, Jonathan, and Lucas; great grandchildren, Bailey, Lexi, Jax, Grayson, Olivia, Collins, Atley, Emerson, Kinzlee, and Rory; sister, Jean Walker, Maryville, MO; brother-in-law, Charles Treese, Valdosta, GA and many nieces and nephews.

Burton has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO. Memorial Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Stanberry First Christian Church, under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, both of Stanberry, MO. Inurnment with Military Rites followed in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, MO. Memorials may be made to the Stanberry First Christian Church in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. The Island City Christian & Calvary Stanberry Churches (John 8:31-32, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”) (‘Truth’: Noun; that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality) That which is true in fact and reality not merely perceived or imagined within the mind. Recently I was assisting someone in crisis and insisted they contact their family to let them know they were safe. Looking at me directly in the eye I was told that they had indeed contacted their family. I knew this was not to be truthful and confronted them with the truth. Their response revealed much of the spirit that has been spreading like a pandemic. “In my mind I have”. In one’s mind an imaginary reality has been created. O my, how far have we fallen as a people created by God the very existence of life. Allowing the imagination to perceive within oneself a reality distant from fact as displayed by ‘Original Sin’. We see this attitude being accepted in society today. Recently I was asked to fill out a questionnaire for the state of Missouri and one question was of my gender and there were three choices: ‘M’, ‘F’, and Other. When the government encourages the spirit of ‘Original Sin’ what does this hold for the future of our Country? We hear the prideful chant of having the ‘Right to Choose’ and this is correct as God’s creation from the beginning was given instruction concerning life or death depending on one’s personal choice. I have heard the question, ‘What is Truth’? Followed by; ‘You don’t want to know the truth’. This can sum up much of the confusion we see being tolerated in the world today. Truth demands accountability and responsibility for that which actually is and receiving the consequence thereof. Today the ‘Right to Choose’ agenda seeks to annul consequence for that which is a part of life as in one’s own imagination becoming an alternate reality of fact. Once again, the example of ‘In my mind I have’ sums up the ‘Right to choose’, as that which is life being said not to be life depending upon choice. I grieve at the writing of this week’s devotion as what I am seeing in the world is living a lie far from ‘Truth’.
