old, Wryn took a downturn & started hemorrhaging from her tracheotomy; the doctors were able to turn her Code Blue into a stable situation after quick medical care & a change of vent settings. At this point, they advised Steven & Dantanya to remain close as Wryn s fight was an uphill battle. It was then discovered that Wryn had a Grade 3 brain bleed on one hemisphere & a Grade 2 on the other, which led to hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain). A shunt to drain the fluid was placed, but her stats continued to drop; it was then discovered she needed to be placed in isolation due to testing positive for meningitis. Another operation was performed to replace the infected shunt with an external drain & Wryn was placed on high-strength antibiotics. At two months of age, a crack which allowed additional bacteria to grow, was discovered in the drain & Wryn was urgently transferred to Children s Mercy for 6 additional surgeries; Wrue was not able to transferred & had to stay at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Steven & Dantana drove to KC daily to visit both girls; Wryn in CM NICU & Wrue in OPRMH NICU. At 3 1/2 month of age, Wrue was able to come home & Wryn remained in CM until 5 1/2 months of age. In October 2023 a follow-up MRI of Wryn showed her 4th ventricle, which controls breathing, was not functioning properly & she had her 9th brain surgery. Upon discharge, Wryn began vomiting within hours & returned to CM only to find she had contracted Rhino/ Entero & Covid while in the hospital. Since that time, Wryn could not take a bottle by mouth, had an NG Tube for 5 months, & in March 2024 had a G-Tube placed directly into her stomach for feeding. Wryn has since been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy & will be medically disabled for the rest of her life, but Steven & Dantana have been told that Wryn currently does not qualify for any disability benefits because Dantana still has an income.
During this process with the twins, Dantana has battled some of her own health issues. When the girls were not quite 5 months old, she had to have a partial Thyroidectomy as a result of several abnormal tests; biopsies revealed she had Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma. in August 0f 2023, she was instructed to cease breastfeeding, had a full Thyroidectomy, & underwent radiation treatments. She has been to the ER herself with severe pain on several occasions over the first 13 months since having the twins; her OB/GYN discovered the cerclage was still intact & needed to be removed as it was not done with the girls were delivered; she had kidney stones in her right ureter which had to be repaired & led to kidney damage/pain; & had subsequent surgeries to repair the ureter. Steven quit his job to provide necessary care for

The journey has been long & expensive for Steven & Dantana McGinley as they embarked on the chance to have a family. Little did they know that journey would be riddled with bumps in the road which have led to distress & extreme financial downfall. Not able to conceive naturally, they spent roughly $60,000 out of pocket to pursue IVF & were finally successful in conceiving twin girls. Unfortunately, not long after, their dreams began to become more of a nightmare… at 20 weeks Dantana started pre-term labor & the doctors did a cerclage (sewing the cervix shut) to try & stop the delivery. At almost 28 weeks Dantana’s organs began to shut down & an emergency C-Section was performed on 19 July 2022. During the birth of Wrynlee (2 lbs, 9 oz) & Wruelle (2 lbs, 8 oz), Dantana began to hemorrhage & required blood & platelet transfusions while confined to the ICU & was unable to see her babies until her pulmonary edema & oxygen issues were resolved; Wrue & Wryn continued to reside in the NICU. The Calvary Stanberry & Island City Christian Churches
(Genesis 1:1, In the beginning God created) The first five words of the Bible start as it should be ‘In the beginning’. When accepted as absolute truth these ‘5’ words will make the rest of the Bible, that is all 66 books, 783,137 words, 39,102 verses and 1,189 chapters acceptable as absolute truth. When we come to the Word of God with a sense of awe, believing every day by prayer and reading, we will grow ‘In the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord’. Adding to our understanding we read: (Genesis 1:26, Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness) A conversation in Heaven before the creation of the world concerning those who would be given the privilege of caring for this perfect place. (Genesis 2:15, Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.) This account of creation from Chapter one is given in ‘6’ steps or literal days as evening and morning as God spoke and that which was not came into existence. There are those who refuse to accept God’s account as absolute truth; this should not be a surprise, (1 Cor 2:14, But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.) There are those who would say that the Old Testament is for the past, full of fables and such things; but I know for a fact that the New Testament is concealed in the Old and the Old is revealed in the New. (John 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.) With the input from the New Testament God is filling in the blanks of who was involved with creation. (John 1:14, And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.) To clarify, (John 17:5, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.)
Pastor Bill Bracken

Special thanks to Bro. Duane Williams and the Albany First Baptist Church for being beside us every step of the way. You all have helped us through a very difficult time. Last but certainly not least, thank you to our amazing family for always being there and stepping up wherever we needed you. The last 3 years have not been easy but we have powered through because of your love and encouragement and our faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God bless you all.
