July 28, 1935 - April 7, 2023
Jack Gardner, 87, of Albany, Missouri, passed away April 7, 2023, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Missouri.
Jack was born July 28, 1935, in Clifton City, Missouri. He was the son of William Henry and Beulah Mae (Pruett) Gardner.
On August 1, 1959, Jack was united in marriage to Karen Wehner. She preceded him in death April 10, 2021.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, son, Tim Gardner, brothers, Cliff, Calvin, Terry and C.W. Gardner, and a sister, Betty DelaCruz.
Before retiring, Jack worked as a logger, own ing Albany Logging Company.
Survivors: son, Scott (Teri) Gardner, Chillicothe, MO; grandchildren, Callie, Jessica, Jordan and Carly Gardner; daughter-in-law, Teri Gardner, Albany, MO; brothers, Guary Gardner, Elmer, MO; Joe Gardner, Breckenridge, MO; Albert “Curley” (Arlene) Gardner, Pattonsburg, MO; sisters, Thelma Mallett, New Cambria, MO; Mary Allred, Breckenridge, MO; Carolyn (Jay) Crooker, Sedalia, MO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Al & Linda Kennett, New London, MO; Jim & Debbie Shoemaker, New Cambria, MO; numerous nieces and nephews. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.) One of those wonderful little epistles situated close to the back of our Bibles known as John1, 2 and 3. John was the only Apostle who didn’t flee when the Shepherd was struck to fulfil prophecy of (Zech. 13:7) and revealed by Jesus in (Matt 26:31 & Mark 14:27). John was present at the home of Annas the Priest and even allowed inside to witness the beginning of the mock trial; all the while Peter stayed outside in the courtyard warming himself by the fire, only to deny Jesus three times until the rooster crowed twice fleeing in shame. John would follow Jesus through the proceedings of the illegal trial clear up to the place where they would crucify Him on that hill called Golgotha, the place of the skull. John would be there on that desolate windswept hill with Mary the mother of Jesus as the brutality of the crucifixion was being carried out while His blood dripped to the ground splattering around the feet of those who would make a mockery of Him all the while talking to those who loved Him for 6 hours until he spoke those fateful words, “It is finished” and gave up the ghost. I couldn’t imagine being there for 6 hours watching the bright red blood run down his face with anguish and pain as he looked down upon those who loved him yet unable to do anything to help; knowing He would hang there till he breathed his last while his heels turned black as if bruised to fulfil God’s prophecy from (Gen 3:15). John is giving eyewitness proof of God’s Love available to those who will repent and believe in Jesus.

Twila Joy Carter
Twila Carter, 85, of Creston, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Crest Haven Nursing Home in Creston, Iowa. Twila Joy (Feurt) Carter, daughter of Cleo G. & Myrtle R.(Brannon) Feurt, was born January 3, 1938 in Labette County, Chetopa Kansas. At the age of 9 months, she and her family moved to a farm 7 miles southwest of Pattonsburg, MO.
Twila attended a one room school, Round Top,
January 3, 1938 • March 31, 2023 for 8 years. She graduated from Pattonsburg High School in 1956 as Valedictorian. She attended Gard Business School in St. Joseph, Mo., going to work at Hillyard Chemical Co. in 1956.
On August 31, 1957 she was united in marriage to Jacob “Jake” Carter. To this union four boys were born, Rick, Randall, Roger & Rob.
Twila & Jake moved their family to Creston the first time in 1973 when they bought the Chicken Inn with Vance & Lila Monday. They moved to Gower, MO. in 1974. They then moved to Creston in 1979 when Jake took a job with Schildberg Construction and Twila transferred to American Family Insurance in West Des Moines in 1984. They moved to McFall, MO. In 1993. Jake passed away March 18, 1999. Twila retired from American Family Insurance on May 7, 1999 after 24 years. She returned to Iowa to be near her family.
Twila did crafting for 32 years and she and Jake traveled many miles showing at craft shows all over the Midwest. She also loved playing canasta, pitch and bingo.
Preceding Twila in death was her husband, Jake; sons; Randall and Roger; her parents; father and mother-in-law Elbert and Daisy Carter; 9 bothers-in-law; 6 sisters-in-law and special dog Chip.
Left to cherish Twilaʼs memory are her sons, Rick (Michelle Mostek) Carter, Rob (Angel Orr) Carter; Daughters-in-law: Kathleen Marckmann and Kathy McIntosh-Carter; Grandchildren; Jared (Jess), Tyler(Sarah), Chelsea(Danny), Brooke, Whitney(Brandon), CJ (Matthew), Ashton and 9 Great-grand children.
Sister; Janis (Cliff) Hibbs; Brother Cleo (Paula) Feurt; sisters-in-law; Hazel, Reva & Wanda. Brother-in-law; Elbert(Reva) Carter. Special niece and nephew; Greg & Marjorie Steel, along with numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services were held at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, April 5th, 2023 at the McFall Cemetery in McFall, Missouri. Rev. Ron Ratliff officiated. Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center of Creston, Iowa and Roberson Funeral Home of Pattonsburg, Missouri were in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to EveryStep Hospice of Mt. Ayr, Iowa.
