A university in the heart of New York city The New School was established in 1919 as a place where people of all viewpoints and backgrounds could gather and discover new ways to respond to a fast-changing world. That idea remains relevant today. More than 100 years later, we’ve evolved into a university offering interdisciplinary degree programs that apply a range of perspectives to today’s most pressing matters. This legacy inspires us to find new ways of freeing students to learn throughout The New School. Here you can study different fields and explore big topics like climate change and new technology while focusing on your own goals and career path. Our renowned, awardwinning faculty are working professionals and scholars who are leaders in their fields. They challenge old ideas, bring diverse ideas and disciplines together, and help create a more just and sustainable future.
