Preparing for Parsons English Language Requirements for International Students If you are an international student who wishes to study at Parsons, you must first satisfy your English requirements. There are two ways to do this: 1) TOEFL -getting the required TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score for the degree program you wish to apply for: •
BFA, BBA, MFA, and MA degrees: TOEFL score of 92 on the IBT (Internetbased) test or 580 on the paper-based

AAS degrees: TOEFL score of 79 on the IBT (Internet-based) test or 550 on the paper-based OR
2) The New School Intensive ESL Program- passing the required level in the ESL Program offered by the New School for General Studies, English Language Studies Department: •
BFA, BBA, MFA, and MA degrees: completion of Level 6* before the start of your degree program

AAS degrees: completion of Level 5 before the start of your degree program
* Except for graduate degree programs in the Architecture Department. The Architecture Department accepts ONLY the TOEFL score to satisfy the English requirements for graduate degree programs.
Applying to Parsons Find out the deadline for applying to your degree program at Parsons. You can look on the website, www.parsons.edu or go to Parsons Admission at 72 5th Avenue, 2nd floor.
Level Verification Form When you apply to Parsons, you must submit either your TOEFL score or a Level Verification Form with your application. You can request this form here in the English Language Studies Department, and we will fill it out for you. The form tells Parsons which ESL courses you are in and when you are expected to complete the required level for admission to your Parsons degree program.
Conditional Acceptance After you apply to Parsons, you may receive a conditional acceptance letter. This means that Parsons accepts you, but only on the condition that you complete and pass your ESL classes. If you are conditionally accepted by Parsons but then fail some of your ESL classes, Parsons will withdraw your acceptance.
