N&R’s Sacramento Area Music Awards (a.k.a. the Sammies) are now in their 24th year, celebrating the best in local music. Over the years, the Sammies have helped
launch the visibility of nationally known artists (think Cake, Deftones and Tesla) but just as importantly, they’ve served to recognize up-and-coming musicians, deejays and producers. This year, SN&R tallied more than 32,000 votes cast in 29 categories, and we extend a big “thank you” to everyone who took the time to log on and cast a ballot for a favorite act. And a big congratulations, of course, to all of the nominees. Winners will be announced Thursday, March 24, at Ace of Spades. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a 7 p.m. show featuring performances by Madi Sipes & the Painted Blue, Ideateam, Sea of Bees, DLRN, Sages, Zyah Belle, Drop Dead Red, Apple Z and Merrygold.
