Target: Zero Waste In partnership with Waste Management, we are stepping up efforts to make the Wildflower the first major century ride to achieve Zero Waste, and we need your help!

Our Zero Waste Team will be there to help you sort your trash, recycling, and compost at all rest stops and during the post-ride dinner on Sunday. Last year we diverted 3883 pounds of our total 4187 pounds of waste to recycling and compost or the equivalent of almost 93% of our waste stream. Help us make this the year we achieve our goal of 100% waste diversion! Thanks in advance!

Making Bicycling Better in Chico A Message from Chico Velo As a 501.c.3 non-profit organization, Chico Velo’s mission is bicycling advocacy and education. Your ride fee supports our own bicycle advocacy and programs, as well as other local organizations. We promote cycling and educate cyclists and motorists, and represent your interests locally and at the state level in partnership with the California Bicycle Coalition. We’re also members of national organizations like the League of American Bicyclists and the International Mountain Bicycling Association. Join us in improving bicycling in Chico by volunteering or contributing to Chico Velo programs and our Foundation, established to support local bike-related projects and activities like the Chico Bike Music Festival and bikes for underprivileged kids.

Bike Valet

We provide Bike Valet parking services (always free to riders) for the Saturday Farmers Market, Thursday Night Market and other local events to help event organizers make biking the best transportation option for attendees.

Ed McLaughlin Art Fund

Established in honor of Ed’s great passions, the fund is creating bicycling-related public art in Chico including our first piece ‘Decide and Ride’, by local artist Jeff Lindsay, recently installed at One-Mile.

KidsPedal!

Light Up Chico

We purchase bike lights through local bike shops and distribute in the winter months to those who cannot afford them.

At our organized rides, watch for riders wearing the Velo kit with the Ride Ranger logo. They are ‘highly trained professionals’ available to help you navigate, answer questions and encourage and support you!

Trailworks

Our Mountain Bike advocacy program focuses on trail maintenance and education, working toward sustainable trails in and around Chico for all users.

The WildFest will feature our own ‘Fork-in-the-Road’ Food Truck Gathering, live music hosted by the Chico News & Review, Sierra Nevada beer garden (wine too!), an expo full of bike-related vendors, NEW KidZone and our Wildflower Store in addition to rider check-in. Plan to bring your friends and family because this FREE community event is open to all!
