X15 Shipbuilders Recognized for Safety Initiatives X15 shipbuilders working in the Steel Fabrication Shop were recently recognized by leadership for their safety contributions and daily effort of keeping safety a top priority. “Together as a team, this crew has focused on making the shop a safer place for all shipbuilders,” said X15 second shift Production Foreman Dalton Smart. “Not only have they been accident-free for the past four years, but they have also brought forth various safety initiatives that have been implemented. They have improved the R.E.C. 2014 MOE Winners Announced In a letter to employees on July 22, Newport News Shipbuilding President Matt Mulherin announced this year’s Model of Excellence (MOE) award winners. “These teams and individuals have been carefully selected by their fellow shipbuilders as our shipyard’s finest,” Mulherin wrote. “They have distinguished themselves through their consistent and extraordinary performance and their unsurpassed accomplishments.
