New Oxford Chamber Plans Fall and Winter Events The New Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to share details about our fall and winter 2021 events.

Harvest Hunt
Our fall festivities will kick off on Saturday, October 9 with the 2nd Annual New Oxford Harvest Hunt. This event features a scavenger hunt and scarecrow decorating contest. Over 20 businesses in and around New Oxford are participating in this family-focused event, which runs through Sunday, October 24. This year there will be both business and residential divisions in the decorating contest. Prizes will be awarded to scavenger hunt participants as well as decorating contest entrants. Physical event booklets will be available at the New Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce as well as participating businesses. There will also be online voting for the scarecrow decorating contest. Thank you to our Q4 2021 Chamber Champion: The Chamber’s second fall event, the 14th Annual Harvest Day Festival & Parade, will take place on Saturday, October 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This event features around 70 vendors as well as a free children’s activity area. Harvest Day concludes with a parade at 3 p.m. Those interested in participating as a vendor (members receive a discount) or registering for the parade (free to participate) are encouraged to visit www. newoxford.org/harvest-day for more information. Chamber News Chamber Thanks Longtime Board Member The New Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce would like to express our sincere gratitude to longtime board member Mindy Langer from Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community. Mindy will be stepping back from the board to focus on her family when her current term comes to a close at the end of the year. Mindy has been a member of the Chamber Board of Directors since 2016 and has served on the executive committee as secretary since 2018. During her time on the board, Mindy has been instrumental in the annual planning of Market on the Square and the Harvest Day Festival & Parade. Her intelligence, reliability and consistency are invaluable traits that have benefitted the Chamber and its members immensely over the past six years. “Mindy has been an amazing resource for me during my time with the Chamber,” said Michaela Shaffer, Director of Membership & Marketing. “I can always count on Mindy to edit and proofread everything from press releases to vendor contracts to the quarterly newsletter. This support is invaluable to me as the only staff member. I’m grateful for Mindy always taking the time out of her schedule to support me and the Chamber however she can.” Thank you Mindy for your dedication and contributions to the New Oxford Chamber!
Remembering D. Glenn Shupp New Oxford lost a beloved community member on August 30, 2021 with the passing of D. Glenn Shupp at the age of 90. Mr. Shupp was an active member of the local community throughout his life. He was the principal at Berlin Ave. Elementary School for 30 years. Mr. Shupp served in a leadership role at the Chamber for many years and was named “Man of the Year” by the organization in 2000. He especially enjoyed working on the annual Market Day event. At the time of his passing, Mr. Shupp was an honorary member of the New Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his roles as an educator and Chamber leader, Mr. Shupp also taught Sunday School at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Oxford and was an active member of the New Oxford Hebron Masonic Lodge. The New Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce extends our condolences to Mr. Shupp’s loved ones during this difficult time. Mr. Shupp will always be remembered for his contributions and dedication to New Oxford.

Central Penn College Scholarship Opportunity Available to Members
Annual Membership Meeting Scheduled for October The New Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, October 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the New Oxford Borough Building. The Annual Meeting will include the following: summary of 2021 Chamber activities, question & answer session, introduction of Board of Directors candidates, election of new board members (ballots will be available the evening of the meeting) and light refreshments. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we ask that you please RSVP by Wednesday, October 27 if you plan on attending. If you want to vote but cannot attend in person, please notify us and alternate accommodations will be made. Additionally, anyone interested in running for a seat on the board is encouraged to reach out to the Chamber for additional information. The Chamber held its first quarterly Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, September 15 at The Markets at Hanover. The program’s topic was digital marketing and featured presentations from Jill Crawford of Crawford Designs LLC and Kathi Fuhrman of Fuhrman Creative LLC. We are pleased to share that 25 attendees joined us for the program! Special thanks to our presenters and attendees for making the Lunch & Learn a success. Member News New Hope Ministries Dedicates New Location in New Oxford
New Hope Ministries staff, volunteers and supporters explore the new facility
New Hope Ministries held a dedication at its new facility in New Oxford in August. The new location is located at in the industrial park near Cross Keys at 154 Enterprise Dr. . The facility is significantly larger than New Hope’s old location in New Oxford and will allow the organization to serve even more people in need in the local community.
