Greetings! I’m Greg Wilton, Dean of Leavell College. I’m originally from New Orleans and went to seminary here as well, so I can tell you firsthand that you are considering the right place when thinking about what God wants to do with your life. Our school is uniquely designed to help you explore your calling. Our city is special. Our college is vibrant and full of great classes, experiences, relationships, professors, and an amazing student body. We aim to prepare people to serve King Jesus wherever and however they are sent.

First, we prepare students to be lifelong servants. Jesus didn’t come to be served, but to serve. Therefore our joy is cultivating students through our campus, faculty, curriculum, and in our city to be the kind of people who delight in serving Jesus by serving others.
Second, we prioritize abiding in Christ.. We have excellent scholarships. We are academically rigorous. We are very practical in what we teach and we are easily accessible as a faculty for our students. Yet in all of this pursuit of an academic education, we maintain the priority of an intimate walk with Christ above all else.
Third, we proclaim the gospel without reservation. Our college community, combined with the uniqueness of New Orleans, is the best training ground to share Christ with others, both in word and in deed.
Fourth, we push everyone to fulfill the Great Commission. At Leavell College, Christ’s command to make disciples is a mandate for all believers. Our joy is to help students live out the mission no matter what they do or where they go.

BACHELOR OF ARTS
THE BACHELOR OF ARTS IS THE FOUNDATIONAL DEGREE OF LEAVELL COLLEGE.
BIBLICAL STUDIES
This major is intended for students seeking to study biblical texts, theological themes, and the history of interpretation.
CHRISTIAN STUDIES
This major provides students with the opportunity to explore 3 interdisciplinary areas of Christian ministry and studies.
CHURCH MINISTRY
This major is intended for students seeking to minister in church or parachurch contexts.
INTERCULTURAL STUDIES
This major is intended for students seeking to fulfill Christ’s mission through ministry to believers and unbelievers from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
MINISTRY TO WOMEN
This major is intended for students seeking to serve in church ministries to women. The major is composed of courses in teaching, ministry leadership, and women in contemporary context.
MUSIC
This major provides the foundation for those students who are preparing for a ministry in music or worship leadership. It is composed of 54 semester hours of church music and worship courses but no minor.
PSYCHOLOGY & COUNSELING
This major is one of the newer majors in Leavell College. The major consists of courses in both counseling and psychology, providing the student with a balanced approach to a counseling ministry.
TEACHING & LEARNING
This major is intended for those students who seek to prepare for classroom teaching. The 30-hour major is composed of courses exploring teaching and relational methods vital to the learning environment. Students earning this major will be prepared to pursue teaching certification through alternative methods.
THEOLOGY
This major is intended for students seeking to proclaim biblical and theological Christian truth. It is composed of courses in systematic, biblical, and historical theology, including major Christian doctrines and interdisciplinary topics.
WORLDVIEW & APOLOGETICS
This major is intended for those students who seek to engage culture with the gospel. It is composed of courses exploring different worldviews, objections to Christianity, and religious diversity.
WORSHIP MINISTRY
This major provides the foundation for those students who are interested in worship leadership.

PROCLAMATION
Doctrine and theology matter. Believing scripture is God’s word and that Truth is found within, we carefully examine the scriptures knowing prayerful study is an act of worship.

Advancing God’s kingdom is our goal. Whether at home or abroad, we desire to take the gospel to the darkest places and shine the light of Jesus, and then watch as God unfolds His kingdom.

The Accelerated BA + MDiv is designed to help students earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees in as little as five years. Our goal is to train the next generation of servants and to send them out equipped, connected, and ready for the ministry. This program is not designed as a short-cut, but as an intensified time of preparation. The Accelerated BA + MDiv offers students maximum flexibility by allowing them to choose any Leavell College major and any MDiv specialization. THE HOUSE SYSTEM
The House System is part of the college experience for Leavell College. Upon admission to the school, new students are placed into one of three Houses. Houses are student-led communities that foster academic excellence, missional living, life-long friendships, and competitive fun. Each of the three Houses are named after prominent and faithful men and women of the faith. The Elliot House exemplifies Devotion. The Bonhoeffer House exemplifies Truth. The Moon House exemplifies Mission.

LOCAL CHURCHES | Although a chapel service is provided twice a week on campus, life at Leavell College would be incomplete without our vibrant church families. Planting roots in a local church as you study will enrich your educational experience. Many churches offer volunteer, part-time, and paid positions as well.
CAMPUS FACILITIES | Our student center and coffee shop are popular locations to spend time with professors and other students. Those looking for a quieter place to study can try the largest theological library in the Gulf Coast, located in the heart of the campus! DISTANCE LEARNING
ON-CAMPUS INTENSIVES & PREPARE HERE WEEKENDS
Leavell College offers students an opportunity to come study on the New Orleans campus no matter where they live! Students can choose from week-long intensives and weekend hybrid courses. Prepare Here Weekend courses combine an online course with an on-campus weekend experience that allows them to learn in community with their professor and classmates. Week-long intensives allow students to participate in a time of concentrated study on the New Orleans campus.
MENTORING COURSES
Mentoring courses allow the student to engage in a mentoring relationship and actively participate in ministry while earning course credit.
For those unable to attend weekly classes on campus, NOBTS offers a variety of course formats.
FLEX & LIVE COURSES
Our Flex and Live formats offer students the ability to participate in classes that are offered in the Leavell College classroom through video interaction. It is the easiest way to be a part of the Leavell College classroom no matter where you are located! These courses are offered in two formats.
- FLEX: Students have the option to join classes in real time or watch recorded lectures at their convenience
- LIVE: Students join classes weekly in real time and interact live with professors and students
ONLINE COURSES
Online courses are designed by experts on the Leavell College faculty and offer students an opportunity to customize their learning schedules to their convenience through prerecorded lectures, discussion boards with faculty and other students, and guided research and practical assignments.
UNDERGRADUATE
Bachelor of Arts in Ministry to Women

The Leavell College Dual Enrollment Program allows high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to work on fulfilling God’s calling on their lives by earning college credit while still in high school.
Approved students are eligible to take up to six credit hours each semester and may earn up to twenty-four hours of college credit through the program.

LEAVELL COLLEGE works to make ministry training as affordable as possible. Our tuition is considerably lower than the national average and Southern Baptist church members receive additional discounted tuition. Our monthly payment plans, spousal discounts, financial advising, and employment opportunities take the guesswork out of paying for college.
Leavell College offers a number of scholarships for full-time and part-time students. Financial aid opportunities are also available for on-campus, extension center, and online students. Our scholarships are need-based, making financial assistance

If you serve as paid staff at a regular-sized SBC church in Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama during your time at NOBTS, you may be eligible for a full-tuition scholarship. The Caskey Center provides scholarships for paid ministers in Southern Baptist churches that have 250 or fewer worship attendees (Louisiana) or 150 (Mississippi/ Alabama) or fewer in worship. Recipients must first interview for the scholarship and

Pell Grants are a form of need-based financial aid that does not need to be repaid. Eligibility is determined by the information you provide on your FAFSA. Louisiana students are also eligible for TOPS based on the information provided on your FASFA. Grants are awarded by the Federal
