FEEL PROUD ABOUT THIS: THABISA MJO IS THE FIRST SOUTH AFRICAN DESIGNER TO HAVE HER WORK FORM PART OF

The renowned Musée des Arts Décoratifs(MAD, Paris) has acquired two landmarkpieces by South African designer ThabisaMjo of Mash T Design Studio for itspermanent collection. Mjo is the first localdesigner to have work included in thisprominent international museum. MADParis has acquired one of Mjo’s now iconicTutu 2.0 lamps and an eye-catching Mjojocabinet. Both pieces came to the museum’sattention because they were part of anexhibition of Mjo’s work at the BonneEspérance Gallery, located in the centre ofParis, last year. Bonne Espérance Galleryshowcases work that is unique for its

originality and diversity, and representsartists and designers hailing from thecreative geography of South Africa and itsneighbouring countries, Lesotho, Swaziland,Botswana and Namibia. “I am completelythrilled,” states Mjo, “to have my workrepresented on the international stage and aspart of an important permanent collection.”
