Easter 2025

I’M HAPPIER AND MORE HOPEFUL THAN EVER!

Growing up, Seth remembers his parents teaching strict, religious values…yet their behaviors were totally different. “They constantly argued about money,” he shares. “It was confusing!”

When he went out on his own, Seth longed to fit in, but several health issues made him feel like an outsider. “Some people were scared of me, because of my height,” he says. Severe allergies kept him further isolated. He feared having a reaction if he visited or lived in certain places.

Unable to find a sense of community, he gravitated toward substances. “I started drinking a lot, then turned to pills,” Seth recalls. “Things got really dark.”

For years, Seth felt lost and alone. He bounced from place to place, sometimes staying on friends’ couches. In time, though, people began saying no, even when he offered money.

Spiraling in his addiction, a sense of hopelessness set in. “I had nowhere to go, so I turned to God for help.” His prayer was answered when he was led to New Life Center.

At the Mission, Seth was relieved to find a safe place to sleep and nourishing meals. With the guidance of a case manager, he committed to a journey toward sobriety and stability. He gained life and work skills and has stayed sober. “I’m finally back on my feet,” he beams.

Seth has big plans to one day manage a low-income residential building – a career, but also a chance to give back. “A lot of people are just misunderstood,” Seth explains. “I can empathize, and I’d like to help them avoid some of the problems I had.”

“I WAS GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE…AND EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO FINALLY GET HEALTHY.”

This Easter, Seth is experiencing God’s gift of new life! Thank you for empowering him to follow Christ’s calling in his life. “I’m grateful to God for bringing me to New Life Center. With the support I received here, I’m looking forward to brighter days ahead.”

The Gift of New Life in Christ

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

A Message from ROB SWIERS

All things new…

People often come to us on the worst days of their life. They’re tired, hungry and struggling with shame. For many, New Life Center is a last resort.

But the fact that they come to us at all means they still have a glimmer of hope. Because they’re trying to change, part of them still believes a new life is possible. Generous friends like you provide the services and programs that help rebuild their lives!

We believe God is “making all things new” (Rev. 21:5) for our hurting and homeless neighbors. Whether they come for a safe place to sleep or life recovery – your generosity helps transform lives like Seth’s, whose story you can read on page 3.

Especially now during the Easter season, the hope of new life carries a special meaning. We’re reminded of the empty tomb – a symbol that nothing is impossible with God. We hold that promise for each of our neighbors in need.

Thank you for believing in our neighbors who are hungry and homeless. Through your gifts and prayers, you show that you have faith in their future and the power of God’s redeeming love!

Happy Easter…and God bless!
