Giving thanks for YOU this fall

A Message from ROB SWIERS

Sometimes I wonder, what would become of the struggling neighbors New Life Center cares for if it wasn’t for your compassion and generosity?

I think of people like Manny, whose story you can read on Page 3 – his testimony is a powerful reminder of how God works through the gifts and prayers of friends like you to transform lives, now and for eternity!

I thank God for how YOU are providing hope, help and healing to people who are hurting in our community.

From the essentials of food, warm clothing and safe shelter…to long-term healing and stability through our

Join us for The Untold Story… and help provide 30 nights of shelter!

New Life Center’s The Untold Story: Dessert Social Fundraiser is October 8 at Delta Hotels by Marriott Fargo – and we’re shaking things up! We’re abandoning the traditional keynote speaker format to shine a spotlight where it truly belongs: on the incredible impact of the Mission and the remarkable heroes who make it possible. Homelessness is not just a story; it’s a harsh reality for many in our community. Each night, 365 days a year, 148 men depend on New Life Center for shelter, food and care. We urge you to stand with us in the fight against homelessness and despair. Our challenge on October 8: ensure 30 consecutive nights of shelter. This is not just a goal; it’s a lifeline for the 148 men who count on us nightly.

Will you join us in this challenge? Help fund 30 nights of shelter through your event sponsorship and attendance at The Untold Story. Together, we can make it a night to remember – a night where hope triumphs, and lives are forever changed by your generosity!

Meet Manny – who is thankful for your support!

“GOD PUT THE PIECES OF MY LIFE BACK TOGETHER AND MADE ME WHOLE.”

Manny was a late bloomer so, beginning in kindergarten, he was held back a year in school. “I was always a class behind my friends and I developed issues with my self-worth.”

When he was in seventh grade, Manny began drinking to numb his pain, but it hindered his emotional and academic growth. “I ended up dropping out of high school and started drinking more and more,” he says.

For years, Manny struggled with addiction, completing rehabs and getting sober for long periods of time. But he always relapsed. “I just wasn’t ready to surrender everything.”

Eventually, he wound up homeless. That’s when he turned to New Life Center for help, and through our Harbor Program he found shelter, meals and the time and support he needed to change his life.

“When I got here, I was broken in pieces, but the staff paid attention to me, asking if I was okay or if I needed anything,” he says. “When I went to bed that

first evening, I knew that I was in a safe spot, that I was going to be taken care of.”

Since then, Manny’s life has been transformed. He surrendered his life to the Lord, identified the root causes of his addiction and developed healthy coping skills. “Now, I have a strong walk with Christ and I’ve looked deep inside and started healing from my childhood trauma,” he says. “I have confidence and the tools I need to face the world.”

We’ve helped Manny secure affordable housing, he’s planted in a church and soon he’ll be starting classes at Renaissance University. Then he plans to spend his days ministering to other hurting men.

“I’m thriving and it’s my turn to give back.”

This fall, Manny gives thanks for YOU and your incredible generosity. Your prayers and support have helped change his life. “With support from New Life Center, God put the pieces of my life back together and, now, I’m whole.”

RECOVERY IS FOR EVERYONE…

Every Person, Every Family, Every Community

The road to recovery is a long and difficult one, but Sean, Chris and Steven made the challenging journey here at New Life Center and graduated from our Genesis Recovery Program in April 2024! Congratulations!

Each September, during National Recovery Month, tens of thousands of recovery programs around the country shine a spotlight on the millions of Americans who’ve successfully made the journey from dependence and despair to freedom and hope, celebrating their bravery and giving hope to those still trapped in addiction.

Recovery Month also highlights new evidence-based treatments and recovery practices and honors care providers so, when those struggling with substance abuse are ready to seek help, they’ll know where to turn.

This November, at our next Genesis graduation, we will celebrate more of the courageous men who’ve walked the hard road of recovery here at New Life Center, transforming their lives through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Join us for the celebration!
