THE PROMISES OF EASTER Have you ever seen the realization cross someone’s face the first time they understand the gravity of Christ’s death and resurrection? It’s one of my favorite things about Easter at New Life Center. It’s a privilege to be a small part of their story, as our guests celebrate the promises of joy and hope this season brings.

You too are a part of our guests’ stories, as you share God’s love with them by providing nutritious meals, safe shelter and other services to change their lives.

Your faithful prayers and generosity help hurting neighbors in our community find a home through our doors. They also find HOPE – hope for their future, and hope in the promises we celebrate at Easter.

Thank you for showing our hurting neighbors in need that you care about them – in their present circumstances, for their future and for eternity. You show them they are loved. You help restore their dignity, and ignite in them a desire to change their circumstances.

Together with God’s faithfulness, you help turn stories of pain into promises of new life in Christ.

evin grew up in a world of addiction and despair. It was all he knew. “My family were drug addicts and we lived in poverty,” he says. “It was really rough.”

When he was in middle school, Kevin was diagnosed with ADHD, and his family convinced him to sell his prescription medications to help pay their rent and buy food. Then, at 15, Kevin became a father and began selling drugs to support his newborn child. “My purpose was to put food on the table, but eventually I became addicted to what I was selling.”

He wound up running the streets, and over time he came to believe that a life without joy or meaning was all he deserved. “I was wild and reckless and living in darkness,” Kevin says. “I didn’t have any hope that I’d find a way out.”

Then he landed in jail, and when he learned that he was facing 15 years in prison, he fell to his knees and cried out to God to help him change his life. “When the court decided to let me come here instead of prison, I knew God had answered my prayers,” Kevin says.

Through our Genesis Recovery Program’s Bible studies, devotions and chapel services, Kevin has found new life through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. “I’m learning and applying Scripture and it’s turned my life around.”

Through case management, counseling, life skills classes and job skills training, Kevin has also processed his childhood trauma and learned to live with structure and routine. He’s looking forward to finding a job, providing for his children and showing his family the love of the Lord.

“Now, I can be a role model for them.”

Thank you for sharing God’s love with Kevin this Easter. His life has been renewed through the joy and hope of the Gospel! “The Mission gave me hope, faith and the tools to live a good life. Now, I have a bright future.”
