At this point in my life I have begun to r ealize that God places cer tain individuals in a per son?s path w ho alter the cour se of their life histor y. Thir ty tw o year s ago this sum m er , I w as r eading the ?Dublin New s? - a publication of the then Subur ban New s Publications. One par ticular ar ticle caught my eye; it w as a pr eview of the upcom ing Dublin Sham r ocks football season. Having just m oved to Dublin and being a r abid spor ts fan, I r ead the ar ticle in its entir ety. A par agr aph of the ar ticle m entioned that Dublin football w as in need of volunteer s to sell tickets and pr ogr am s at gam es. Another need w as a stadium public addr ess announcer. Shor tly after r eading the ar ticle, I w r ote a letter to the Head Football Coach and Athletic Dir ector (the sam e per son) explaining that I had just m oved to the ar ea to star t a chur ch. Because I knew that I w ould be ?taking fr om ? the com m unity, I believed it w as my r esponsibility to ?give back .? I indicated that I w ould gladly volunteer to sell tickets, pr ogr am s or w hatever the need m ay be. I also m entioned that I had som e exper ience as a public addr ess announcer w hen I w as in college. A w eek later , I r eceived a phone call fr om the Head Football Coach/Athletic Dir ector letting m e know that he w ould like m e to ser ve as stadium announcer. I asked if w e could m eet because I w anted to be absolutely cer tain w hat his expectations w er e. W hen w e m et, he also asked if I w ould be inter ested in ser ving as team chaplain, offer ing a pr ayer at w eekly pr e-gam e m eals. As they say, the r est is histor y.
