Worship Space Update:

You may have noticed signs for our "Wiggle Room!" The Wiggle room is located to the left of the Sanctuary doors and is a space where you can sing, shout and wiggle in worship. The Cry Room, located to the right of the Sanctuary doors, is available for those looking for a calmer space to worship. Everyone is always welcome in the pews. New Hope recognizes that sometimes sitting still is challenging, and we also need to "make a joyful noise." We hope to create welcoming spaces where all may worship with us.

Join us at 9:00 am and 11:00 am on Sunday, April 2, for our Palm Sunday worship service. The children will lead us in singing our praises to the king of kings as they parade around the sanctuary and we all wave our palm branches high and offer shouts of "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!"

MaundY

Join us for the Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service on Thursday, April 6, at 7:30 pm. Immediately following the service, we will be offering a Prayer Vigil. We invite you to sign up for half-hour increments. Resources will be available to guide you as you pray for yourself, your loved ones, New Hope Church, and the world.

Everyone is cordially invited to attend the Dublin Cross Walk. The Cross Walk begins promptly at noon on Good Friday, April 7.We gather in the south parking lot of Dublin Coffman High School and walk behind the cross to Dublin Community Church, where a brief service will follow. The Cross Walk is our very quiet way of saying to the world that Good Friday is not “just another day,” but the day that Jesus gave his life for us.

Our worship on Easter Sunday begins at 7:00 am at the Africa Event Center in the Columbus Zoo with the Easter Sunrise Service. Everyone is welcome! You will be able to access the Africa Event Center parking lot by driving to New Hope. Ushers will be present to help direct traffic. The 9:00 am and 11:00 am Worship services will occur at New Hope Church. You are encouraged to bring fresh-cut flowers to these services to help decorate the Living Cross (see cover photo).

Endowment Fund

“Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord.” - Psalm 102:18

Since its organization in 2009, the New Hope Endowment Fund has been driven by its mission to enhance discipleship and stewardship for the continued long-term growth of New Hope’s Christian ministries within the community. The New Hope Endowment Fund is a repository for financial gifts beyond your regular giving to the church. Your gift to the Endowment Fund is a living legacy for the next generation to praise the Lord.

The Endowment Fund Board supports the ministry of New Hope Church by stewarding funds for the next generation of Christ followers, educating current generations on healthy financial practices, and offering grants to support new and ongoing Christian ministries within the community. Recently, the Endowment Fund Board organized the campaign to build the Steve and Jean Norden Fellowship Pavilion and awarded $30,000 in grants to ten different community-led ministries. The Endowment Board continues to advocate for good Christian stewardship practices across the generations and help New Hope live out its mission to reach people for Christ, root people in Christ, and release people to serve Christ.

For more information, and grant application details, please visit newhopeworship.org/endowmentfund or contact Board President Tom Johnson.

Jesus said to his disciples,

Over 200 people gathered on that wintry morning in the Fellowship Pavilion to package 50,112 meals. The Dublin and Plain City Food Pantries picked up these meals. Each meal is said to feed a family of 5, which means this all-church outreach impacted 250,560 people. Words alone are insufficient to describe the depth of my gratitude for your generosity in this endeavor. Thank you!

New Hope strives to live out these words of Jesus by being engaged in mission with our local communities and sending support across the globe to Christians sharing the gospel in places we can’t physically go. Your financial generosity to New Hope enables us to live out these words of Acts 1:8 and change lives in the name of Jesus Christ.

Each year 10% of New Hope’s annual giving is designated as “benevolence” and distributed to various Christian missions and ministries worldwide. The Outreach Team works with the Deacons to manage these benevolences and ensure that the funds given are utilized to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. In 2022, New Hope gave $158,062.51 to help meet our local, national, and global neighbors' spiritual, emotional, and physical needs. Numerous volunteer hours were also given to local mission partners like the Common Ground Free Store, the Dublin Food Pantry, Franklin County and Delaware County Children’s Services, and Festa. The list could go on and on about how your finances, service, and faith impact our community.

On Saturday, January 28, we gathered our financial and people resources to partner with US Hunger.

The Spirit of God continues to prompt us to be Jesus’ hands and feet in this world. With whom else might God be calling us to share our resources?

In Christ, Pastor Sarah

If you would like to learn more about the work of the Outreach Team or share a mission you are passionate about, please contact Pastor Sarah. The Outreach Team meets on the 3rd Monday of every month at 7:00 pm.

“You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Team Everybuddy

1 Corinthians 12:7 says "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” Prior to this verse, Paul explains that the members of the church are diverse and that they must work together in order for the body of Christ to function. This teamwork is not only good for the body as a whole but also for each individual member. Everybody deserves to have the opportunity to be part of this team, part of the body of Christ. Everybody should also have a safe and accessible place to learn about Jesus.

Team EveryBuddy is New Hope’s Special Needs Inclusion Ministry where children attend programs with an experienced Buddy so that their individual needs can be met. If you have a child that would benefit from being with a Buddy OR if you are interested in joining the incredible team to serve as a Buddy, please contact the Children’s Ministry Team!

Club 45

Club 45 kicked off the year at the Humane Society of Delaware County, where they delivered much-needed wish list items and had the chance to love on dogs and cats waiting for their forever home! Then the 4th and 5th graders made Valentine’s Day care packages for New Hope college students to support and encourage them in their studies! Way to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

Youth Ministry

Newhopeworship.org/youth

Exciting things have been happening in youth ministry at New Hope!

In December, we celebrated Christmas together by hearing the story of the generous gifts the Magi gave to Jesus as a baby. Then we practiced our generosity through our fabulous White Elephant Gift Exchange! All of our youth had a wonderful time together, building relationships and learning about the generosity of Jesus Christ. And, as a bonus for Pastor Sarah, no live insects were given this year!

In January, we revealed the dates and location for the upcoming high school mission trip. This year, the New Hope Youth are headed to Huntington, West Virginia, June 17-23, 2023. We will be partnering with Praying Pelican Missions to aid the residents of Huntington and the surrounding areas, partnering with other local ministries to do building projects, feed the hungry, and provide programming for kids and senior citizens. We look forward to a fantastic service experience and covet your prayers as we prepare to serve God in this way.

We also kicked off a new Confirmation Class in January. Fifteen students are studying the Apostles’ Creed, learning about God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit from New Hope Church elders. The class will culminate in an afternoon retreat in April, where the students will write their own version of a creed, which will be shared with the congregation on Confirmation Sunday. It’s a great group, and they are excited to learn how to articulate the faith that the New Hope Community has instilled in them.

Finally, the search process is underway for a new Director of Youth Ministry. We have received resumes of several qualified candidates and are in the process of conducting interviews. We will involve youth and families along the way, prayerfully discerning the candidate who God is calling for this position. We hope to provide another update in the near future!

Thank you for your continued prayers and support of the youth ministry at New Hope as we seek to Reach students with the gospel of Jesus Christ, Root them in Christ, and Release them to serve Christ in their communities and in the world!

Christ,

Music Ministry

Why Worship Choir?

We are blessed to have a Worship Choir at New Hope. In a culture where many church choirs are fading away, we strive to build a choir where everyone is welcome to sing (not just a few), a repertoire that includes a variety of music styles, and a faith that flourishes in praising the Lord. We intentionally keep our Worship Choir vibrant and growing for several reasons:

The Worship Choir allows many people to serve the Lord with their gifts and talents of music and song, not just a chosen few.

The Worship Choir functions just like a discipleship small group. Because we meet regularly, sing, pray, and discuss the scripture in our repertoire and make lasting friendships that endure for years and years, we are growing in our faith together.

The Worship Choir models and inspires congregational singing.

The Worship Choir encourages and promotes intergenerational worship.

There are so many benefits to joining the Worship Choir. According to the latest Chorus Impact study, commissioned in 2018 by Chorus America, more than 54 million adults and children sing in choral groups in America today. The report also states that adults who sing in choruses report significant personal benefits, including feeling less lonely and more connected to others. The list of benefits goes on and on. (https://chorusamerica.org/resource/chorus-impact-studysinging-lifetime)

Singing together has added health benefits as it relieves stress and releases endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine for mental well-being. Singing is life-giving. Most importantly, singing helps foster your spiritual wellness while worshipping Jesus. What could be better for you?

When asked, 99.9% of our choir members will tell you they are wholly refreshed and encouraged by the LORD when leaving most choir rehearsals. Especially after a stressful day!

So, if you sang in a choir back in the day (high school or college) or have never sung in a choir but it’s on your bucket list, take advantage of this opportunity to serve the Lord in this group. Our Worship Choir is open to anyone High School age or older. If you are a singer – we need you! If you are a beginner, we will teach you all you need to know about singing and music. Childcare is available, and we are friendly to complex schedules.

New Hope’s Worship Choir is a wonderful and unique experience to be a part of. Come, see for yourself. See you in the loft!

Generations Choir & Worship Night – an incredible weekend

The highlight of our Winter was February’s Worship Night & Generations Choir Weekend! It was joyful, meaningful, and spirit-led. We had 54 singers, over 120 in the pews, the Mighty Organ, Rob on the fiddle, solos by Mark Dean & Christine Loy, an acoustic guitar set, and the Worship Band's finest. We heard the testimony of God’s goodness and spent time in prayer. Our young children sang (and danced, if you caught that!), and our Youth belted their praise to Jesus. All in all, our mouths were filled with praise to the glory of God's name! We are grateful to the Lord, Jesus Christ, for pouring His Spirit into our hearts that night in a tangible and transforming way. Amen.

Music Ministry Spotlight: Greg & Jennifer Smith

Volunteers are the heartbeat of New Hope Church! Take a minute to get to know our Music Ministry volunteers, Greg & Jennifer Smith and join me in thanking them for their dedication and commitment to our Music Ministry program.

Tell us how you volunteer in the Music/Tech Ministry at NHC?

: I am a Tenor in the Choir, and I also sing in the Praise Team throughout the year.

: I am an Alto in the Choir and play keyboard & piano in the Praise Team throughout the year as well.

How long have you been involved in the Music/Tech Ministry at NHC?

Greg & Jennifer: For several years, we participated in the Choir - but only at Christmastime. Christmas of 2021, we enjoyed the Christmas Cantata so much that we decided to participate more regularly and now sing year-round.

Can you share how being involved in the ministry @ NHC has impacted your life of faith?

Greg: I am still relatively new with my faith and relationship with God. Singing in the music ministry has really helped me along my personal journey. I spend time during the week not only rehearsing the songs but trying to make sure that I understand and connect with the underlying messages in the music, which in turn has a direct impact on my life of faith.

Jennifer: It has definitely brought a more regular and deeper connection with Jesus than I had previously. I find myself singing the songs and connecting with him not just every day but multiple times each day, and I find myself much closer to him.

What is the best part of being involved in NHC Music Ministry for each of you personally?

Greg: Singing has also been at the core of who I am as a person, and I cherish and appreciate the opportunities and challenges that come with singing at New Hope Church. I look forward to Thursday rehearsals every week!

Jennifer: Music has been a part of my whole life, having played French Horn and Piano for the majority of it. I didn't have much of an opportunity to sing, and I am really enjoying singing in the Choir. It has also helped me get back to playing Piano more regularly, which I also love.

Greg & Jennifer: We love the people we have met and continue to meet, and it has turned our relationship with New Hope from a place we would come and go on Sunday mornings to a community in which we have deeper relationships.

How do you spend your free time? or favorite hobby?

Greg & Jennifer: Football in the fall, golf whenever we can, backyard games with the family, movies and hopefully one day retiring on a lake with a boat!

Prayer Garden Spring 2022

New Hope Preschool & Education Center

Registration for the 2023-2024 school year is underway. We have over 180 students registered for next year and continue to give tours to potential new families. We are full in many classes but still have openings in Kindergarten Enrichment, our afternoon three day 3’s class, and our morning two day 3’s classes. We look forward to welcoming our returning families back and the new families sending their child to our school for the first time!

The teachers have thoughtfully designed their classrooms to allow for learning through instruction and play in various engaging ways this year. It has been wonderful to see the children drawn to these improvements. One program-wide improvement is special themed bins for the sensory tables. This area of the classroom allows the children to learn by exploring different textures and manipulatives. We colored dried beans or rice with liquid watercolor and found various items to make these themes. One of the bins contains small red Starbucks coffee cups, white pompoms (marshmallows), brown unifix cubes (blocks of chocolate), peppermint canes, and recipe cards to make their own hot chocolate. Our dump truck bin with small beans is a big hit, as well as the dinosaur bin with kinetic sand, pebbles, and a mixture of beans to dig through the layers to find fossils. It is an opportunity for sharing, imagination, and play all in one activity!

Our Valentine’s day is always full of much love and fun. The children shared valentines, enjoyed a party in their classroom, and sent valentine cards to older members of New Hope Church and to a local nursing home.

We held our Parent Night outreach on February 27th. The Common Ground Free Store in Delaware, Ohio, is our beneficiary for this year's outreach fundraiser. Our evening fun included Pastor Chris playing his guitar while leading a sing-along in the sanctuary, photo booth, soft ice cream machine, and a neon dance party. The children also painted two kindness rocks in our classrooms; one to remain at our program, and one to take home. In addition, we had Elevated wood-fired pizza food truck for families to purchase dinner upon arrival. Finally, our outstanding silent auction items and raffle baskets allowed us to raise funds and donate to our beneficiary.

Finally, the baby chicken eggs have arrived! The children will get to see the eggs hatch in the incubator and then hold the sweet baby chickens when they are ready for little hands. We name them, watch how fast they can move, learn about what they eat and give them lots of attention throughout the day.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support for the children and teachers at NHC Preschool & Education Center.
