......................... New Hope's Mission To Reach people for Chr ist, Root people in Chr ist, and Rel ease people to ser ve Chr ist.

Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

the accusations leveled at each other and the vituper ative com m ents ar e alm ost beyond belief.

If you?r e of my vintage, you m ay r em em ber the song ?Hom e on the Range.? The r efr ain says, ?Hom e, hom e on the r ange w her e the deer and the antelope play. W her e seldom is hear d a discour aging w or d, and the skies ar e not cloudy all day.? As I obser ve w hat is happening in our cultur e, it seem s m or e appr opr iate to sing ?w her e seldom is hear d an encour aging w or d.? Discour aging w or ds, cr iticism , per sonal attacks ar e pr olific and they know no boundar ies of r estr aint.

How desper ately w e need encour aging w or ds, per sonally and collectively. Recently I r eceived a text m essage fr om som eone w ho sim ply w anted to encour age m e. She?s a m em ber of New Hope and, although she?s not able to w or ship w ith us as fr equently as she?d w ish, she continues to car e deeply about our chur ch and our pastor s. I saw M ar tha Gallagher just this past Sunday and w as able to tell her just how m uch her encour aging w or ds m eant to m e.

I?m deeply concer ned for w her e our countr y seem s to be headed. We ar e m or e polar ized than at any tim e in my life and w e dem onize those w ho ar e seem ingly opposed to us or have a differ ent point of view. Just r ecently I?ve had conver sations on social m edia w ith high school classm ates and fr iends in w hich

The Apostle Paul?s w or ds to the chur ch in Thessalonica ar e w or ds w or th hear ing, ponder ing and follow ing: encour age one another and build each other up. How differ ent our w or ld w ould be if God?s people took these w or ds to hear t and led the w ay as pur veyor s of encour agem ent.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY Rach el Tat e, Ch i l dr en 's M i n i st r y Team Leader tate@NewHopeWor ship.com - 614.766.5445 x11 - NewHopeWor ship.com/Childr en

Hello Fr iends! We hope you ar e w ell! We have loved seeing your childr en back in Sunday School and Junior Wor ship Choir this Fall! We ar e so blessed to be able to shar e the gospel w ith them . One of the things w e pr ay that your childr en ar e lear ning is how to pr ay. We w ant them to know that it can be done anyw her e, anytim e, and that God is alw ays listening. How w ill w e teach them ? How w ill they lear n that? The best w ay is fr om our exam ple. M any year s ago, after m ultiple failed attem pts and fr ustr ating battles, I asked our pediatr ician how to get our fir st-bor n child to eat his vegetables. The doctor sim ply said to keep tr ying. Just put the veggies on his plate and eventually he?ll eat them . Well, the pediatr ician w as r ight. Luke did finally star t eating his veggies (w ithout pr om pting and pr odding fr om m e) about 14 year s later ! Those year s of putting veggies on Luke?s plate ar e a gr eat exam ple of how teaching our childr en how to pr ay w or ks. Our childr en have hear d pr ayer fr om the m om ent w e knew they existed. They?ve been sur r ounded by it fr om the m om ent they ar r ived into this w or ld. We pr ay over them and w ith them . They do the sam e for us once they know how. We have spent year s taking our childr en?s hands in our s to pr ay befor e school, at the dinner table, on a VBS in July field, and in the pew. Now , as our childr en gr ow older , they initiate our tim es of pr ayer. A hand m ay r each out quickly for a speedy pr ayer , or a slow hug m ay

m ove in for a longer pr ayer. Regar dless of the w hen and the how , our kids ar e pr aying. W hy? They?r e pr aying because w e?ve m ade it a par t of their lives, just as God asks us to. Isr ael, listen to m e. The Lor d is our God. The Lor d is the one and only God. 5 Love the Lor d your God w ith all your hear t and w ith all your soul. Love him w ith all your str ength. 6 The com m andm ents I give you today m ust be in your hear ts. 7 M ake sur e your childr en lear n them . Talk about them w hen you ar e at hom e. Talk about them w hen you w alk along the r oad. Speak about them w hen you go to bed. And speak about them w hen you get up. 8 Wr ite them dow n and tie them on your hands as a r em inder. Also tie them on your for eheads. 9 Wr ite them on the door fr am es of your houses. Also w r ite them on your gates. ? Deuter onomy 6:4-9 If w e teach our childr en how to pr ay thr ough exam ple and The Wor d, they w ill pr ay. They w ill know exactly W ho to seek w hen things ar e w onder ful, w hen things ar e status quo, and w hen things ar e har d and scar y. It?s up to us to teach them . The best w ay to do that? Just like the veggies, keep putting those pr ayer s out ther e w ith your childr en. Anyw her e and ever yw her e. Eventually your childr en w ill know them and pr ay them on their ow n. Her e?s to m or e pr ayer s (and veggies)! Blessings, Rachel Tate
