Gr eetings, As I sat dow n to w r ite this, I r ealized that this m onth m ar ks my one-year anniver sar y as Chur ch Adm inistr ator for New Hope. Tim e indeed flies! As I began to r eflect on my exper iences her e over the past year , and especially the highlights (yes, ther e have been challenges as w ell, but the apostle Paul r em inds us that ?w hatsoever things ar e of good r epor t, think on these things?!) I could not help but r ecall and give thanks for the tr em endous suppor t I r eceived in my ear ly w eeks and m onths fr om Chair of the Deacons, Cr aig Kr enzel. Although m ost of us know and r ecognize Cr aig as a national cham pionship Buckeye, I had the oppor tunity to w atch his faith in action and cam e to r espect him as a cham pion for Chr ist. It didn?t take long for m e to see that ser ving the Lor d w as his highest pr ior ity follow ed by his fam ily, chur ch, etc. As I look back, I?m thankful for his w isdom and guidance. Even m or e, I?m gr ateful that he dem onstr ated his faith in the Lor d by having confidence in m e to do the best job I could in my new
r ole. That tr uly m eant so m uch to m e and sustained m e on my difficult days! So? a big thank you goes out to Cr aig, my br other in Chr ist. The Lor d does indeed continue to bless us financially as you can see fr om the figur es pr esented in the table below. Giving for the m onth of October exceeded budgeted incom e by near ly 40 per cent, w hile expenses w er e held slightly under budget. Just as a r em inder , giving thr ough Kindr id is a com pletely secur e option for contr ibuting tithes and offer ings. Please car efully check infor m ation enter ed as New Hope has no ability to change user input. Last w eek, M ar y, our youngest child, w as shar ing the contents of her backpack w ith m e. She had m ultiple er aser s, pencils, squishies, etc. W hen w e finally got to her school w or k, she pulled out a tr ue tr easur e in the for m of a paper she had w r itten about her nam e.
For our childr en to know that tr uth, that God calls them to him by their ow n nam e, is fundam ental to them under standing how im por tant they ar e; not only in God?s m ighty kingdom , but also in this w or ld.
M ar y w r ote: M ary means bitter. Bitter means rebel. M y parents named me and all of my siblings after the Bible. The youngest kid is me, M ary. M y sister is Abby. M y brother is Joe. M y other brother is Luke. Every name is important. M y name is important to everyone who loves me. God made each one of our names perfect. And He?s happy about that.
To have a nam e is to be som eone. It?s how you ar e identified. It?s how you ar e called. God is calling each of us into r elationship and ser vice w ith Him . Please take a m om ent this w eek to r em ind your childr en that they ar e a valued m em ber God?s heavenly kingdom , and that He?s calling to each of them by nam e.

We enjoyed an activity-filled October in our pr eschool and education center. The childr en w ent on a field tr ip to Lehner ?s far m w her e they each chose a pum pkin, then had visits fr om fir efighter s at our school, and par ticipated in the annual Hallow een par ade! In addition, the childr en have been lear ning in their classr oom s and cr eating pr ojects like m aking a dinosaur out of the letter D, pr edicting and lear ning w hat w ill sink and float in w ater , and lear ning about ovals, hexagons and other shapes. They also have continued to enjoy their m usic tim e, Bible stor y tim e, and getting a chance to play outside w hile the w eather still allow s. Dur ing Novem ber , w e w ill have our Tur key Tr ot pr eschool fund-r aiser and par ent-teacher confer ences. The teacher s look for w ar d to shar ing the pr ogr ess the childr en ar e m aking in the classr oom s. We w ish ever yone a ver y Happy Thanksgiving. Answering Questions about our Interior Updates W hat w e consistently hear fr om new m em ber s at New Hope, is w hat a w elcom ing chur ch body w e have. Both new and senior m em ber s com m ent that w hen they w alk thr ough our door s, they feel like they ar e com ing hom e. Our hope is that w e alw ays pr ovide a w ar m , w elcom ing chur ch as both a body and building. Our facility w e call hom e is now 13 year s old and beginning to need som e updates (thanks to the m any w onder ful year s of m em or ies m ade w ithin these w alls). We have begun a ser ies of facility updates and the deacons ar e consider ing m or e to keep our chur ch w ar m , w elcom ing, and inviting. This ar ticle is to pr ovide som e answ er s to questions w e have been r eceiving below. 1. Why do we need to update our facility? Her e is the good new s; w e ar e a gr ow ing chur ch in need of m or e m ulti-pur pose space for our m inistr ies and the m any outr each events w e host for people of all ages. After 13 year s, w e ar e seeing m or e w ear and tear on our w ell-loved building. We w ant to keep our facility w ell-m aintained, clean and com for table to ensur e a continued w ar m and w elcom e pr esentation of our chur ch for all new and existing m em ber s and guests. 2. What updates have been made? a. Painting ? We have painted the w om en?s r estr oom , m en?s r estr oom , libr ar y and Childr en?s M inistr y office b. Fur nitur e ? w om en?s bathr oom , youth r oom (again, to accom m odate a m ulti-pur pose r oom ; it is used for both youth and adult m inistr ies), Childr en?s M inistr y office (used to house five em ployees and m eetings w ith par ents and new m em ber s) 3. How is the church funding these updates? The updates descr ibed above w er e included in the congr egation appr oved 2018 oper ating budget. 4. What?s Next? We w ant to hear fr om you about w hat is being consider ed.
