Life does have its seasons. Ther e ar e seasons of constancy and seasons of change. You m ay be aw ar e that New Hope is pr esently in a season of change. We have been aw ar e for som e tim e that our Dir ector of Childr en's M inistr y, Josh Bar n a, w as anticipating a season of change. Josh's w ife, Am er y, is near ing com pletion of her fellow ship in neur oscience at Childr en's Hospital in Cincinnati and has been inter view ing for a new position in her field. That w ill involve r elocation for Am er y and Josh and w e'r e gr ateful that Josh has been ver y tr anspar ent and for thcom ing about this change. Consistor y has m ade the decision to begin the sear ch now for som eone to succeed Josh r ather than w ait until he concludes his m inistr y w ith us. Childr en's M inistr y is a ver y high pr ior ity at New Hope as evidenced by the investm ent of financial and hum an r esour ces. We desir e to have as seam less a tr ansition as possible w ith som e over lap betw een Josh and his successor. Additionally, w e ar e sur r ounding Josh w ith a team of key stakeholder s w ho w ill pr ovide suppor t and continuity dur ing this tim e and beyond. Just a few w eeks ago our Chur ch Adm inistr ator , Ph i l Th om pson , let m e know that after a year of ser vice, he desir es to be tr uly r etir ed. To Phil's cr edit, he w ants to be totally invested in his fam ily and gr andchildr en, all of w hom live in close geogr aphical pr oxim ity to Phil and his w ife, Cindy. So, w e ar e also in the pr ocess of sear ching for a new Chur ch Adm inistr ator. I know som e people thr ive on change. I do, as long as I can contr ol the change. Of cour se, it's fallacious to assum e that w ould ever be possible. Instead, I r em ind myself of and pr evail upon the faithfulness of God. New Hope is God's chur ch, and God w ill call and equip those w hom God desir es to ser ve. I ask for your pr ayer s and your help dur ing this season of change. If you or som eone you know m ay be inter ested in these positions, please have them contact m e. I r ather suspect that w e w ill have both inter nal and exter nal candidates. As I've told Consistor y and our staff, my com m itm ent is that w e w ill hir e the best people for each position. Our Club 45 4th and 5th gr ader s put together 34 Valentine's Day car e packages for our New Hope college students. Febr uar y is such a fun m onth for us at New Hope Pr eschool! We w elcom ed our M om s to join us for a day and enjoyed spending tim e w ith them . We also hosted a M agic Show for the com m unity and had fun w atching all the childr en and their fam ilies enjoy the show. At the end of the m onth w e had a Dental visit and lear ned all about cleaning our teeth. We ar e filling up fast for the 2016-17 school year. We still have a few spots left for AM 3?s, PM 3.5/4?s, PM Pr eK, and sever al for our Kinder gar ten. Please help us to fill our br and new Kinder gar ten next year. Each sum m er , New Hope sends our m iddle school youth to Cr an-Hill Ranch sum m er cam p. For over 45 year s Cr an-Hill Ranch has been helping kids gr ow closer to God offer ing fun and exciting sum m er cam p pr ogr am s. Their natur al setting, near ly 300 acr es car ved out of M ichigan for est, gives sum m er cam per s at Cr an-Hill Ranch a r eal sense of "going to cam p." Our youth par ticipate in "M axim um -Exposur e" cam p - a cam p for the cam per w ho w ants to do it all! Each day youth sign up for a new activity or spend m or e tim e on their favor ite activity, the choice is their s.
