The other after noon I had som e discr etionar y tim e and I decided to look at chur ch new sletter s fr om ten year s ago. As I per used editions of the New Hope New s fr om 2008, I w as both am used and astounded by w hat I r ead.

Ear ly in the year w e w er e pr om oting a change in w or ship style and schedule. It w as in Febr uar y of 2008 that w e changed fr om w hat w er e tw o ver y sim ilar styles of w or ship ser vices to w hat w e exper ience today? a m or e contem por ar y Living Water w or ship ser vice and the tr aditional w or ship at 11:15. W hile this w as a seism ic change for New Hope w hen it w as intr oduced, today our w or ship styles and schedule ar e an or dinar y par t of our life together. After ten year s, my assessm ent is that, for the m ost par t, w e?ve w eather ed this change quite w ell.

I w as sur pr ised to r em em ber that in ear ly 2008 w e w er e pr om oting a concer t by the A Capella Choir of Nor thw ester n College in Or ange City, IA, one of the colleges of our denom ination the Refor m ed Chur ch in Am er ica. The choir sang her e on M ar ch 3 and that evening a young w om an intr oduced her self to m e. Her m other w as a sem inar y classm ate and her father w as a sem inar y contem por ar y of m ine. I knew of this young w om an but it w as fun m eeting Sar ah Palsm a. Little did I know that, just thr ee year s later , Rev. Sar ah Palsm a w ould becom e New Hope?s Associate Pastor !

Later in 2008 w e w er e infor m ed by our then Associate Pastor , Rev. Steve Pier ce, that he and M onica w ould be m oving to M anhattan w her e M onica had been accepted into a doctor al pr ogr am at For dham Univer sity. As I?ve kept tr ack of the var ious changes in Steve?s m inistr y and in the Pier ce fam ily life over the past ten year s, I?m ver y am azed that m any of New Hope?s pr esent m em ber s and attendees do not have m em or ies of the year s Steve ser ved us so w ell.

Ten year s seem s such a long tim e ago. At the sam e tim e, it seem s as though it w er e just yester day. God has done w onder ful things dur ing this past decade. I?m also keenly aw ar e that ther e w er e dear fr iends w ho w er e a vital par t of New Hope in 2008 w ho ar e no longer pr esent as they have gone to be in the pr esence of God. Thr ough all of the tw ists and tur ns of this past ten year s, I cannot help but r est in the faithfulness of God. Isaac Watts, in that m ar velous hym n ?O God, Our Help in Ages Past? states it w ell: O God, our help in ages past, Our hope for year s to com e, Be thou our guide w hile life shall last, And our eter nal hom e!

It is har d to believe that I joined New Hope as the new Chur ch Adm inistr ator near ly tw o m onths ago! I star ted Novem ber 1st? r ight in the thr oes of budget season for the upcom ing year. Needless to say, my fir st sever al w eeks her e have been extr em ely busy, but also ver y exciting in ter m s of w hat the Lor d is doing at New Hope.

Even though I am cur r ently a ver y involved m em ber of my hom e chur ch, the Lor d has begun to r oot in m e a love for New Hope and for the staff and m em ber s for w hom this chur ch is hom e.

a Per for m ance Audit M anger , follow ed by five year s of or ganizational developm ent consulting.

Dur ing my tenur e at AOS, I had the oppor tunity to w or k on a num ber of per for m ance audits for school distr icts, local gover nm ents and State agencies, and w as instr um ental in advancing pr ofessional developm ent as a key value w ithin the Per for m ance Audit Section of AOS. I also w or ked w ith consultancy engagem ents for clients including the Ohio Higher Education Agency and Otter bein Univer sity, and near ly tw o year s as the Inter im Dir ector of Hum an Resour ces for Otter bein.In my fr ee tim e I enjoy tutor ing at-r isk m iddle school students in Colum bus Public Schools as par t of the EdPass Pr ogr am thr ough the Centr al Ohio Educational Ser vice Center.

I fir m ly believe the Lor d has called m e her e for His pur pose and I?m eager to do w hat He has set befor e m e. I consider it an honor and pr ivilege to ser ve in the capacity of Chur ch Adm inistr ator and I w ill do my best to r espectably r epr esent the Chur ch in the com m unity. I am inspir ed by the Wor d of God w hich says, ?The integr ity of the upr ight w ill guide them ? (Pr ov. 11:3, NKJV) and I tr ust the Lor d to guide m e as I seek to honor Him and w alk in integr ity and honesty.

Last year , my husband Jack and I sold our hom e in Hilliar d and built a condo located just outside the Village of West Jeffer son. We have six gr ow n childr en, nine gr andchildr en, and one Westie, nam ed Com et - all of w hom keep us ver y busy!

I ver y m uch see my r ole as lifting the w eight of the or ganization off the shoulder s of our Senior Pastor. It has been a pleasur e to get to know Pastor Steve and now Pastor Sar ah as w ell. They have both been extr em ely suppor tive and helpful to m e w hich I gr eatly appr eciate.

I?d like to take this oppor tunity to thank all of you, the m em ber s of New Hope, for your suppor t as w e m ove into 2018. I?m looking for w ar d to an exciting and challenging year ! Thanks to the har d w or k of our pr evious adm inistr ator s, Todd and Gail, our financial position is m uch im pr oved over pr evious year s. We ar e tr usting God to continue to do good things in the com ing year !

Decem ber w as a m agical m onth! The childr en m ailed letter s to Santa and w er e so excited to r eceive letter s back fr om the Nor th Pole. Our Chr istm as Pr ogr am s ar e alw ays a gr eat w ay to star t the holiday br eak - You can't help but sm ile w hen you listen to the childr en sing and per for m their holiday songs. Our oldest pr eschool class per for m ed the "Stor y of Chr istm as" and did a gr eat job lear ning their lines, and w er e ver y pr oud to be a par t of such a special stor y. Our Kinder gar ten class had a special pr ogr am too! They danced, sang, played m usic and per for m ed a r eader s theater "The Chr istm as Stor y."

Happy New Year and w e hope you had a joyful Chr istm as! The love of Chr ist shar ed ar ound the globe is my favor ite par t of the season next to Jesus?bir th.

As Chr istians, God calls us to shar e that love w ith other s. Each w eek in Pr aise School, w e focus par t of our w or ship on offer ing. W hen w e offer the gifts God has blessed us w ith to His people, w e glor ify God. It?s par t of being a Chr istian.

This Januar y, w e ar e going to focus on being gener ous w ith those gifts. We w ill talk w ith the childr en about shar ing their gifts of tim e, talents, and tr easur e. We w ill begin our gener osity focus w ith giving of our gifts thr ough passing the offer ing basket. Please enable your childr en to ear n finances thr ough chor es, etc. so that they can lear n the gift of giving of by doing just that. Our hope is that they w ill see how their sm all gifts m ake lar ge im pacts in our chur ch fam ily and our ability as a w hole to shar e those gifts w ith God?s global chur ch.

Childr en?s M inistr y is excited to announce Kid Space, located in the for m er Toddler side of the nur ser y. This space w ill be utilized by New Hope?s school age childr en for pr ogr am s such as Pr aise School, School House Sunday School, Club 45, and m or e. In Rom ans 12:5-8, Paul shar es that w e ?all have differ ent gifts, accor ding to the gr ace given us. If a m an's gift is pr ophesying, let him use it in pr opor tion to his faith. If it is ser ving, let him ser ve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encour aging, let him encour age; if it is contr ibuting to the needs of other s, let him give gener ously; if it is leader ship, let him gover n diligently; if it is show ing m er cy, let him do it cheer fully.?

This w as the 11th year New Hope sponsor ed a location to r ing a bell. In 2007, 11 people r ang for 11 hour s at one stor e; this year over 40 people r ang for 27 hour s at thr ee stor es. Thanks to all those w ho r ang a bell and those w ho suppor ted this outr each activity!

Oper at i on Ch r i st m as Ch i l d Updat e | The Outr each Com m ittee expr esses sincer e appr eciation for your gener ous suppor t for Oper ation Chr istm as Child. 189 shoeboxes boxes w er e collected. The shoeboxes com bined, w ith financial

donations helped to pr ovide a var iety of gifts that w er e shipped to Native Am er ican r eser vations as w ell as countr ies ar ound the w or ld. The online tr acking show ed the var ious destinations of the boxes as they w er e shipped. They ar e a pow er ful tool for shar ing the life changing m essage of Jesus Chr ist. Thank you for your faithful suppor t in helping childr en in under ser ved ar eas.Ever y box that w as packed r epr esents one m or e child w ho w ill have the oppor tunity to hear the good new s of God?s love.
