Selwyn’s school uniform expectations 2023 - 2024

Our school uniform -We wear our school uniform to let everyone know that we are part of the Selwyn school team.

-When we are walking to and from school, we stand out from the crowd as we look so smart in the school colours.

-For PE, we wear different colours to represent our house teams.

-All of our school uniform items can be purchased from Ian Howard in East Ham or the school’s main office.

School polo-shirt

Children must wear a plain white polo shirt, preferably with the school logo on it.

School sweatshirt, cardigan or fleece

Children can choose whether they would like to wear a sweatshirt, cardigan or fleece with the school logo on it.

School trousers, skirts and pinafores

Children can choose whether they would like to wear grey or black trousers, skirts or pinafores.

Tracksuit bottoms are not allowed unless children are in our nursery.

Summer uniform

In the summer, children can choose whether they would like to wear grey or black tailored shorts or blue and white checked / striped dresses.

Selwyn shoes

Children are expected to wear plain black shoes every day apart from when they have PE. Shoes should not have coloured soles or laces and should not have a heel.

PE: Children may wear trainers on their PE lesson day.

Every child has been allocated a house team and this should be the same for all siblings.

Do not wear: -Brightly coloured bottoms -Alternative hoodie tops -Long/low-hanging head scarf -Jewellery

Selwyn - additional items Hijab: Girls may wear a black, navy or white hijab for religious or cultural reasons. If pupils choose to wear headwear, it must be a solid black, navy or white and not require a pin or brooch to secure it. It must fit close to the head and not flap around. Children wearing hijabs will need to ensure that they are safe during PE by tucking them into their t-shirt.

Undergarments Children may wear plain white or black long sleeved t-shirts underneath their school polo shirt or PE t-shirt.

Plain white or black leggings can be worn with a skirt.

Socks & tights: These should be plain grey, navy, white or black.
