Our P4C (Philosophy for Children) journey continues as our students feature in the new video for Thoughtful - the organisation behind P4C. They were invited, with their families, to attend the launch event in London on Monday evening to preview the video. Mr Galoria organised the event as he is responsible for developing P4C at Rokeby School. The video is available on our website - click the picture above to view it. We received such wonderful feedback following the event. Have a look.

Roshan Dsouza Communications Lead, Make Architects I credit Rokeby School for providing me with the foundational tools that have stayed with me throughout my professional career to date. I joined Rokeby midway through Y8 in March 2009 after emigrating to the UK from India a mere two months prior. It was intimidating adjusting to a country and social environment that initially felt so foreign to me, but it wasn’t long before I met lifelong friends, was taught by some of the brightest teachers and was introduced to a range of extracurricular activities that was to shape some of my later life decisions.

I fondly look back on cooking classes, science experiments, piano lessons and creative writing workshops – endeavours that provided me with an outlet to express my thoughts and ideas. All the teachers and support staff wished for was to nurture our passions, which did help shape our overall experience in school. The extracurricular team also worked hard to team us up with organisations running workshops in Music, Art and Design as well as Languages – subjects I really enjoyed – during the half term and summer breaks. Of course, I equally liked the more academic studious subjects like Chemistry and Maths! Through hard work and the support of my teachers, I left in 2011 after achieving 14 A*-Cs for my GCSEs. My time after Rokeby saw many twists and turns through college (studying English, History, and Film) and university (History with Contemporary Chinese Studies) where I was so fixated on landing the perfect academic job that I completely neglected my creative instincts. It was through a conversation with an old Rokeby teacher that I was able to rediscover my love for design and writing – two disciplines that come naturally to me and ones I practised regularly while at school. I now lead communications and media relations for a global architecture studio called Make Architects, delivering complex strategy projects for architects and designers. I also have the wonderful opportunity to annually visit Rokeby – thanks to Mr Uddin – to deliver workshops and participate in careers fairs. All I wish is to now give back to Rokeby. A few enthusiastic students from Rokeby have also completed work experience placements at Make to gain hands on skills on how architecture works in practice.

I truly believe you should dare to be the best. In the current economic climate, with the way the job and skills market remains unpredictable, I look forward to continuing to work with Rokeby to guide those who need valuable careers advice.

Culture Week 2025 31st March - 4th April

At Rokeby School, celebrating diversity, fostering unity and learning about different backgrounds is very important to our students, staff and community as a whole.

This year, Culture Week will bring everyone together to celebrate this across the school. The week has been organised by the School Council and Student Leaders (Akram, Omer, Misbah, Freddy and Adrian). Their aim is to make culture week more engaging, inclusive and impactful by implementing many new and unique ideas.

More information about their plans for the week will be available in the Rokeby Recorder next week.

Lunch Menu Next Week

Our School Council had a meeting with IFG Innovate this week to discuss the feedback from students and staff so far. They discussed the increased choice available, portion size, presentation, flavour and healthy choices. It was a very productive first meeting and plans are in place to hold this meeting regularly.
