15th July 2024 9.30 - 10.30 Online Safety Coffee Morning (Sextortion)
On Monday 8th July, 30 year 9 students took part in an exciting Science workshop. The presenters were Dr Freya Johnson, a Physicist specialising in Magnetism and Lottie elwyn, an Executive Director of Big Ideas. The students were tasked with making a magnetic levitation ("maglev" for short) train that floats above a magnetic track. They then tested how much weight the train could carry before sinking and touching the track.

Parent coffee morning - Online Safety (sextortion) Eastlea Community School invites you to join us on Monday 15th July from 9:30 - 10:30am for our final parent coffee morning this academic year. There will be a presentation about what sextortion is, spotting the signs of this type of abuse and how to support young people and encourage them to seek help. Students of all year groups have gone through a PSHE lesson where they have learned about online blackmail and sextortion in the last week. As parents or carers we want you to be equally educated about this type of online crime which has made the headlines in recent months. Mr Ali (Head of computer science) will talk to you about online safety and be available to answer any question you may have. Please join us for this final coffee morning in this academic year to get together with other parents and use this opportunity to chat about your experiences and concerns to other parents, Mr Ali or myself.
