London Wonder at Eastlea Community School Stop The Train
On Monday 8th July, 30 year 9 students took part in an exciting Science workshop. The presenters were Dr Freya Johnson, a Physicist specialising in Magnetism and Lottie elwyn, an Executive Director of Big Ideas. The students were tasked with making a magnetic levitation ("maglev" for short) train that floats above a magnetic track. They then tested how much weight the train could carry before sinking and touching the track.

Eastlea Community School invites you to join us on Monday 15th July from 9:30 - 10:30am for our final parent coffee morning this academic year. There will be a presentation about what sextortion is, spotting the signs of this type of abuse and how to support young people and encourage them to seek help.
Students of all year groups have gone through a PSHE lesson where they have learned about online blackmail and sextortion in the last week. As parents or carers we want you to be equally educated about this type of online crime which has made the headlines in recent months.
Mr Ali (Head of computer science) will talk to you about online safety and be available to answer any question you may have.
Please join us for this final coffee morning in this academic year to get together with other parents and use this opportunity to chat about your experiences and concerns to other parents, Mr Ali or myself.

Music at Eastlea Community School
Last week was a particularly busy week for the Music Department at Eastlea. here are the highlights:
Summer Showcase at Trinity Buoy Wharf
Three bands and three year 10 songwriters represented Eastlea at the Summer Showcase at Trinity Buoy Wharf Sounds on Tuesday 2nd July, an event put on by World Heart Beat. Professional singer-songwriter, Sian Kelly, has worked with our students for several months, and it was wonderful to be able to share original songs and covers with a lively audience including several Eastlea friends and family. Eastlea Fest
On Wednesday 3rd July, Eastlea Fest returned to the Music Gardens for 2024, with a huge celebration of all the music and dance that has been taking place this year. A large audience of staff, friends and family saw all the bands, Keyboard Club, Eastlea Rising Stars, Guitar Club ft. String Ensemble, some wonderful solos and even a special guest performance from Birthday Boy Mr Hibbs! A few clips can be found on our X / Twitterpage.
Restore The Music Battle of the Bands
To finish off a very hectic week for Eastlea musicians, on Friday 5th July one of our Year 7 bands, The Hot Wires, competed at the Restore the Music Battle of the Bands at Central Foundation School in Old Street. There was some incredible talent on display which was so inspiring for our students, and a panel of judges from the music industry had a tough time deciding on the winners. The Hot Wires did brilliantly and really did Eastlea Proud.Congrats to the band - Eti, Lucas, Victor, Michael, Kuba, Jerome and Kaion. See a clip of this brilliant day on ourX / Twitterpage.
