The inaugural NCL Poetry by Heart competition took place on Tuesday 26th March, at Lister Community School. Poetry by Heart is a poetry speaking competition, which involves remembering and reciting two poems from different time periods.
It is all about developing confidence with poetry in a fun, accessible andengagingwaythatleadstoalifelonginterest. Students from all the schools across the trust took part and it was an afternoon of enjoyable performances. Anna Torhovetska and Hanan Abdikarim from 9C represented Eastlea. Both girls delivered thoughtful performances. Hanan came second in the competition, an absolutely incredible achievement as the standard across the trustwasveryhigh.WelldoneHanan
