Eastlea Community School has partnered up with Barclays Bank and Start Young UK. We have had 12 lucky Year 11 students accepted onto the ASPIRE program which runs over a course of 8 sessions, teaching students a range of vital employability skills, CV, applications and interview techniques, inspirational workshops and incredible work experience. The students have received thought-provoking workshops from Amani Simpson and Christopher Oliver (SAS: Who Dares Wins & Barclays CEO Chief Security) so far, encouraging them to think outside the box and develop confidence in themselves and their skillset. These sessions are held in Barclays Head Office in Canary Wharf, and at the end of the program 5 students will be selected for a full time apprenticeship to work for the bank. Our students have excelled in these sessions and have continued to represent the school well, all adults who have worked with them have been thoroughly impressed with their maturity, engagement and commitment to their own futures.
