Three of our student leaders represented Eastlea at East Ham Town Hall for the Holocaust Memorial event. It was extremely insightful with connections made to current day events whilst also remembering the tragedies that took place and lessons which can be learned for today. There were wonderful speeches and both musical and literary performances along with a beautiful candle lighting to reflect on those currently suffering and who have suffered in the past. We are pleased to announce that we have a new school counsellor: Sharon Sampson. Eastlea Community School works in partnership with Place2Be, a national children's mental health charity. The Place2be school counsellor offers mental health support for all students via a service called Place2Talk, Monday-Wednesday, in school. This is a self referral service whereby students can request a 20 minute appointment to talk about whatever is on their mind. Students who require more support can be referred for up to 10 ongoing counselling sessions of up to 50 minutes. We will always ask for parent or carer consent for this longer term service. Ms Bhanu, Head of PSHE, has launched the PSHE newsletter which lets parents know about the topics which will be covered in PSHE each half term. You can find the most recent letter here: PSHE Spring Term 1.
