Year 9 History students enjoyed visiting the Imperial War Museum over the course of 3 days this week. Students visited the WW1 and WW2 galleries as a way of gaining valuable insight into this part of their History curriculum. Students looked at exhibits such as letters written to loved ones , propaganda posters and artefacts from WW1, they were also able to walk through a makeshift trench to gain an insight into the conditions soldiers faced. Here’s what two of the students thought: "The trip was really interesting and allowed us to develop our knowledge of WW1&2. The museum was huge, I would have liked to have spent longer exploring all the exhibits on show. We learnt what uniforms looked like, what letters soldiers wrote to their loved ones from the front line and got to see the weapons used on the battlefields. My favourite part was seeing the tanks and planes on the ground floor, they were so huge!" Albie-9C "I didn't know that the soldiers kept a pig named Tirpitz as a pet after rescuing him from a German warship!" Hailey T, 9C Ms Hoy, Head of History
