Normandy Trip At the end of last week, sixty-one Year 8 students, accompanied by eight teachers, headed for “la douce Normandy”. The first port of call was Boulogne to visit “Nausicaa” aquarium. Next, it was on to the Château de Chantereine in Criel-surMer just in time for the first French meal of the trip. On Saturday, the group visited the French market at Dieppe, where students admired all the local fresh produce and used their French speaking skills to purchase mouth-watering fruit, honey, cheeses and presents for their families. Everyone then enjoyed a picnic lunch on the beach, and an afternoon of games at the Château. There was also the opportunity to visit the local “cidrerie”, set in a beautiful orchard, where they were told about the process of making cider, a local produce that Normandy is famous for. The following day as they arrived in Rouen, the capital of Normandy, it was discovered that the Armada festival was taking place - with a very impressive flotilla of vessels moored in its port along the Seine. The students visited Rouen Cathedral, the medieval quarter and Saint Joan Church and square. On the final day everyone enjoyed a visit to a French chocolate factory. Awards were given for keenest commitment to French culture to Florence Lawes, Sophie Moorish, Ellie Edmeades, Drew Mead, Warren Selby and Liam Rayner (who was named “Monsieur Escargot” for sampling the greatest number of snails!).

MUSIC YEAR 7 CONCERT On Thursday 13 June, a wonderful Year 7 concert took place in the Chapel with parents and friends of the school in attendance. There were uplifting performances by the Year 7 choirs as well as solo performances. Well done to everyone who took part. FUSION

Fusion took place on Friday 7 June, featuring performances from students in Years 7—13. It was a great concert—well done to all of those who took part. Particular thanks to Mr Corby for coordinating the evening’s entertainment. LUNCHTIME CONCERT A celebration of the young baritone voice took place at Wednesday’s lunchtime concert. Samuel Loader (Year 9) sang ‘If I Only Had A Brain’ from The Wizard of Oz and Tom Bellis (Year 9) performed ‘The Cloths Of Heaven’ by Dunhill. Next week’s concert features woodwind.
