Students Celebrate Burns Night Boarding students from Magdalen and Earle Houses had a poetry competition to celebrate Burns Night last week. The boarders took part in a poetry recital and then had a Scottish themed supper.
BOARDING NEWS In Hawley House this week, a fitness craze has started, with weekly sessions of Zumba, Street Dance and ‘Legs, Bums and Tums’ taking place.
A great night of poetry was celebrated in honour of Robert Burns and everyone produced some thoughtful and insightful poems. The very deserving winners were Raphael Langford (Year 6) and Lily Langford (Year 8), with poetry representations of their homeland, Scotland. They were closely followed by Charlotte Gordon (Year 7) with her moving poem about war on the front line. Israel Wokoh (Year 8) came third, with his very apt poem about the exciting experience of Burns Night.
The fiercely competitive Campion Cup paper toss competition took place this week and was won by the Curran team— extending their lead at the top of the table!
The students were also treated to some wonderful musical entertainment from boarding students; Michael Hollette (Year 8) and Anya Cook (Year 7).
The Petre Cup continues to rage, with Andrews maintaining their narrow lead overall. A touch rugby tournament took place last week, with Mr Hanley joining in!
To finish off a very successful evening, the boarders had the opportunity to try haggis for supper - a surprising treat for all!
Finally, in Dennett House, everyone is enjoying some rest following the January examinations, with plenty of retail therapy taking place last weekend.
