First Holy Communion On Wednesday 12 June, a special assembly was held for those pupils who recently received their First Holy Communion. Mrs Conrad started the assembly by talking to everyone about special meals and how sharing in a special dinner brings family and friends closer together. There was then a reflection on how Jesus celebrated a special meal with his disciples the night before he died and how, when we come together for Mass, we remember what Jesus said and did and know that he is there with us in a very special way. The children, who were dressed in special dresses and smart suits, spoke about how they had prepared for their First Holy Communion and they then shared with our school family what it meant to them to receive this special sacrament. Thank you to all the parents who were able to join us and to Mrs Stapleton for organising this assembly.
YEAR 4 VISIT SANDFORD MILL Year 4 had a great day out at Sandford Mill on Thursday. They completed a river trail and developed their knowledge on their current Science topic (forces and friction) by undergoing a range of different tasks. They learnt how different surfaces create varying degrees of friction and even got to see how friction can create fire! The most exciting part of the day was when the children had the opportunity to apply all that they had learnt to build a plane from a cardboard tube and paper. They then tested the planes they had made to see how aerodynamic they were. It was very interesting to see which designs had the least air resistance. A great day had by all despite the lack of sunshine!
