Young Shakespeare Company It was a privilege to welcome the Young Shakespeare Company to New Hall Preparatory School on Monday 4 February. A fast-moving, fully-costumed, interactive production of Shakespeare’s enchanting comic tale, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, was performed by a cast of dynamic professional actors, with a passion for sharing Shakespeare with younger audiences. The play was brought vividly to life around and amongst the children, at times including the whole audience to create enchanting scenes, such as the bustling Athenian market and the wood full of mysterious fairies and sprites. The performance concluded with the market traders’ hilarious rendition of ‘Pyramus and Thisbe’. Throughout the performance the storyteller enabled the children to become actively involved in the play through a carefully structured range of drama and language activities. Year 5 and Year 6 pupils were captivated from beginning to end by this fantastic learning experience, full of wonder and excitement that our children will talk about and remember for years.

CONGO DISCO On Friday 1 February, the School Council hosted our second Congo Disco. A big thank you to Mrs Smith and all the members of the School Council for organising this event. Thanks must also go to the staff and children who attended great fun was had by all! The School Council enjoyed selling refreshments and glow products, with all profits contributing towards continuing the good work we are able to do for our sister school in the Congo. We raised over £800 and are delighted with this great effort! A special thank you to the team leaders: Lucy Barrett, Rebecca Jeffery, John Barber and Jack Daly for organising and running their teams; demonstrating great leadership potential.
