Chelmsford Champions The U11 girls' kwik cricket A team attended the Partnership Competition on Tuesday 4 June at Coronation Park. The girls managed to win all of their matches in the tournament and once again proved that they are becoming a strong and competitive side. They are constantly improving their bowling skills, bowling fewer and fewer wide balls, and they won their matches on the day with sensible and confident running between the wickets. The girls were delighted to win all four matches becoming the Chelmsford Partnership Champions. Congratulations to Lara Clark (6M), Patricia Domecq Domecq (6S), Rebecca Jeffrey (6M), Elizabeth Murphy (6S), Ella Phelps (6M), Charlotte Underwood (6M), Samantha Whetstone (6M) and Eloise Winsor (6S). Also a special thank you and well done to Lucy Merry (5T) who stepped into the A team when Ella Phelps was injured. The B team also attended the event and gained valuable match practice. For all of the team it was only their second experience of a competitive match and they learnt a great deal about batting, bowling and fielding under pressure. The team comprised of Year 6, Year 5 and Year 4 girls and all the girls should be proud of themselves for being able to compete alongside Year 6 teams. Well done to Lucy Barrett (6S), Molly Brignell (5S), Emily

Conrad (5S), Darcy Courtney-Cook (6S), Lucy Merry (5T), Akshadha Nikam (4R), Emma Shannon (6S) and Amber Whitehorne (5T).

U11 V ST JOHN’S, BILLERICAY The week, before these great results, on Thursday 23 May, the U11 girls' kwik cricket team played a match against St John's School, Billericay. The girls batted first and scored quickly and consistently in the first few overs. Very few wickets were lost and all the girls made a good contribution to the final score of 244 runs. This was always going to be a hard total for the opposition to reach and with some great bowling and tight fielding the opposition were reduced to a total of 213. Elizabeth Murphy was awarded the Player of the Match having got the batting off to such a very good start and bowling tightly.
